Position Title: Newell Distribution Center - 2nd Shift
Reports to: Shift Supervisor
Location: Shelbyville, TN (1660 Railroad Ave)
2nd Shift: Monday thru Friday, 3:30pm - 12:00am; overtime and weekends as needed

Job Summary:
The Newell Distribution Center - 2nd Shift employee is responsible for processing orders through various areas, including those that require the use of powered material handling equipment in a manner that meets company standards for safety, quality, productivity and accuracy.
Job Duties Could Include:
  • Maintain safe work environment by being aware of surroundings; following standards and procedures; complying with operating policies and regulations.
  • Demonstrate accurate and efficient experience conducting inventory transactions that meet production and quality standards as determined by management team.
  • Use a radio frequency (RF) scanner/hand-held gun, voice pick unit and computer to pick and verify items for selection.
  • Conduct replenishments, full pallet picking, put-aways and trailer loading/unloading, using powered material handling equipment.
  • Analyze and troubleshoot problems and resolve them such as shortages, quality checks, and correct quantity.
  • Pack box of items and stack boxes on pallets properly.
  • Secure and move finished pallets; move empty pallets.
  • Wear all required safety PPE and operate all work duties in a safe manner following proper procedures.
  • Take individual responsibility in keeping work area organized and clean.
  • Must be able to work in any area of warehouse as needed, including duties consistent with both driving and processing orders.
  • Maintain quality and production standards.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • HS Diploma or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • At least 6 months prior experience in distribution/ warehouse environment; forklift driving experience preferred.
  • Must be able to qualify for and maintain fork lift license; valid state issued driver’s license and/or successful completion of eye exam required.
  • Ability to read, write and perform basic math skills with strong attention to detail including speed and accuracy in counting and verification.
  • Highly motivated team player, willing to accept additional responsibilities and strive for continuous improvement.
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Interact with and work well with others in various fast changing environments/situations.
  • Ability to prioritize, manage time, and carry out multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Must be able to work overtime as needed.

Essential Functions:
  • Must be able to qualify for and maintain fork lift license; valid state issued driver’s license and/or successful completion of eye exam required.
  • Physical effort lifting and moving material or objects that are average weight continuously and heavy weight material or objects occasionally.
  • Ability to move inside warehouse and remain in stationary position up to 10 – 12 hours.
  • Bend, stretch, push, pull and reach low and high places frequently.
  • Operate buttons on computer, and RF guns.
  • Ascend/descend 3 step ladder that crosses over conveyor.
  • Move light weight objects or material overhead occasionally.
  • Ability to work in high places of 35-40 ft.
  • Ability to look up to high places (35-40 ft.) by bending neck.
  • Engage in full manual dexterity in both hands, wrists, and arms.
  • Ability to perform visual quality Inspection of product functionality and color.
