We are responsible for the biological, microbiological, serological, chemical, immunohematological, hematological, biophysical, cytological, pathological, or other examination of materials derived from the human body for the purpose of providing information for the diagnosis, prevention, or treatment of any disease or impairment of human beings. Overview:
The Senior Scientist is responsible for assisting the chief scientific officer, quality managers, and operational managers in day-to-day scientific affairs of Navis Clinical Laboratories.

The Senior Scientist reports directly to the Chief Scientific Officer.

The schedule for this position will be M-F 9-5:30. The pay for this position is $73,000.
Responsibilities:
Essential Functions:

  • Review laboratory validation data and prepare summary reports.
  • Initial review of confirmation data from LC/MS/MS, GC/MS/MS, and GC/FID instrumentation.
  • Review and submission of proficiency testing data.
  • Background research, planning, and initial data review for special projects.
  • Attend monthly quality metrics meetings. Responsible for all follow-up action items.
  • Monitoring/investigation of laboratory rework data.
  • Weekly quality control data review.
  • Draft/review standard operating procedure updates.
  • Comply with SOPs, regulations, best practices, guidelines, standards, policies, and procedures.
  • Personal accountability for attendance, productivity, training, and technical incidents.
  • Collaborate with co-workers, managers, and other supervisors to solve work-related problems, and resolving questions/issues daily.
  • Participate in employee training for equipment, software, and other laboratory operations.
  • Responsible to maintain all safeguards as it pertains to Protected health information (PHI).
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:
Education and Experience:

  • B.S. in biological, physical, chemical/pharmacological, or toxicological discipline.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of CAP, CLIA and state regulations that pertain to laboratory testing.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • A team-player attitude and the ability to work independently with minimal supervision in a growing, fast-paced environment.
Training Plan:

  • New hire onboarding.
  • Analytical data review training.
  • Laboratory operations, metrics, LIMS training.

Physical Requirements:

  • Light to moderate lifting/carrying up to 25lbs.; heavier weights with assistance.
  • Standing for long periods of time, repetitive motions and/or prolonged computer use.
  • Working at a fast pace, subject to many interruptions, physical/mental demands.
