Christianity Today (CT) is seeking a journalist who can lead the reporting and story-telling around issues of American democracy. This beat would include not only matters of electoral politics but also questions of civil society, polarization, misinformation and disinformation, voter access and suppression, and related issues, especially as these matters intersect with religion and the public square.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Lead CT’s coverage of American democracy and national politics
• Represent CT at relevant events and convenings

• Education: Bachelor’s degree or higher in communications, journalism, or other relevant field of knowledge
• Experience: 5+ years of writing or reporting
• Familiarity with the landscape of American religion—especially evangelical Protestantism—and with current issues related to American democratic institutions
• Skilled in writing, investigation, analysis, communication, and storytelling
• Ability to engage political, civic, and religious leaders, and other sources
• Occasional travel as necessary for events or interviews related to the democracy beat
• Consistency with CT’s core convictions and commitments

• Christianity Today headquarters are located in Carol Stream, IL.
• This position has the opportunity to be fully remote.
