Music Director

$33,000 for 10 hours per week, which includes Sunday worship music & leading choir, along with 4 paid section leaders. 10 weekends off, (summer). Extra pay at $40/hour for launching midweek programs, musicals, etc.

Diversity of styles encouraged, (Bach to Spirituals/Gospel to Taize to Alternative/contemporary) with emphasis on engaging the congregation so they can experience the joy of community through music. Will also work with and lead other instrumentalists.

Must love to work with children and youth. Candidate with energy and vision needed to initiate and lead/oversee/launch programs such as Kindermusic and children/youth choruses, youth musicals, intergenerational community musicals, etc.

We have the money resources to build a youth music program in a town with growing youth population.

Hours put into midweek youth programs (above the 10 hour/week for services, choir) will be compensated at $40/hour.

Candidate will enjoy creating and nurturing community through music-making, becoming a true minister of our congregation and visitors. Candidate will have strong keyboard skills, a conservatory degree, and exemplary experience in leading choirs/choruses of adults and children, with a strong interest in musical theater.

In recent years we became an Anti-Racist Church, and voted to become Open and Affirming, fully inclusive of LGBTQ+. We are very active in outreach with the hungry, the unhoused/homeless, and families in poverty. We have sponsored refugee families in the past, and are currently giving a Ukrainian refugee family a fulltime scholarship at our Preschool. We are a congregation of the United Church of Christ.
