Job Title: Music Director

Starting Salary: Competitive Salary

Position Purpose:

The Music Director leads the Church in developing a quality Christian music ministry that glorifies God. The person must work cooperatively under the supervision of the Senior Pastor to achieve the Church’s Mission and Vision: “Doing Bold New Things to Connect Fayetteville and the World to Jesus Christ.” (II Corinthians 5:17) In addition, the Director of Music must also be a committed, maturing Christian who has a personal relationship with Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior.

This is a permanent part-time position.

Qualifications:

• Must have experience as a Music Director.
• Must have a bachelor’s degree in Choral or Instrumental Music, Music Education, Music Theory, Music Composition, or Conducting. Must have course credits/experience in Piano/Organ Performance or Vocal/ Choir.
• Ability to read music.
• Ability to play the piano, Hammond organ and the pipe organ preferred but not required.
• Must have ability to adapt to flexible schedules, practices, etc.
• Must have supervisory experience.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must demonstrate an ability to communicate with others in a professional manner.
• Applicant must be eager to learn and adapt to performance changes as directed by the Senior Pastor.
• Must possess the ability and willingness to assume a creative leadership role.
• Must have experience in and be able to plan and produce special musical concerts and/or workshops.
• Must be a team player and have the ability to advance the needs of the music department.
• Must possess the ability to work collaboratively with the senior pastor, staff, volunteers and members of First Baptist Church.

Responsibilities:

Subject to review and adjustment by the Senior Pastor, the following make up the major responsibilities of the Music Director:

• Plan congregational services, including music selection, in coordination with the Senior Pastor.
• Must assume over‐all responsibility for all choirs and musicians.
• Recruit, develop, and direct the various choirs.
• Conduct weekly choir rehearsals.
• Under the direction of the Pastor, assist with planning for Sunday worship services and other special services as required.
• Select and use music which brings glory to God, is spiritually correct, and ministers to the congregation.
• Supervise, develop, and train volunteers for the ministry.
• Oversee and ensure maintenance and care of all equipment for the ministry.
• Evaluate and suggest equipment needs for the ministry.
• Serve as music worship leader during services.
