The Jamestown Yorktown Foundation is seeking enthusiastic individuals to present engaging, structured educational tours and programs at Jamestown Settlement and the American Revolution Museum at Yorktown. Museum Educators lead tours and teach programs in a manner that shares diverse perspectives and reveals how history impacts people today. Using a wide range of teaching methodologies, Museum Educators guide groups through our galleries and outdoor living history sites where they facilitate interactions with historical interpreters and provide historical context related to the people, culture, events, concerns and legacies of 17th and/or 18th century Virginia. This position has the potential to expand and include addtional programming responsibilities. Prior experience and knowledge is helpful but not required. Training on content, methodology and logistics will be provided.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Knowledge of or interest in 17th and/or 18th century history
  • Excellent customer service skills
  • Desire and ability to learn and apply new information in a fast paced environment.
  • Effective speaking, presentation, and active listening skills
  • Ability to work effectively and respectfully with people of diverse cultures, ages, and economic backgrounds
  • Interest in educational methodologies.
  • Willingness to work outdoors in all weather conditions.


Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience working with school age children desired but not required.
  • High School Diploma or equivalent preferred.

Special Requirements
Required training is scheduled for February 15th, February 16th, February 17th, February 21st, February 24th, March 1st, March 2nd, and March 3rd.
Considered candidates must be able to attend all required training dates listed above.
