The duties and responsibilities of the MRI Technologist include but are not limited to:


  • Prepares patients, collects relevant information for completion of procedures.



  • Performs all MRI procedures.
  • Transfer and positions the patient in a safe manner.


  • Practices safety procedures relevant to inherent magnetic field.


  • Understands and operates electronic information systems.


  • Compiles appropriate records to expedite results.



  • Administers contrast media as required.
  • The MRI Technologist participates in continuing education activities to expand/enhance knowledge of MRI and to meet the continuing education requirements of the ARRT.


  • Involvement in Quality Control/Quality Improvement.


  • Initiates patient teaching including family and/or significant other.


  • Participates in the educational process (supervision, evaluation, and instruction) of radiography students.


EXPERIENCE

Required - One-year experience as MRI technologist.

Preferred -Two years’ experience as MRI technologist in a hospital environment. Hands on experience with X-Ray and CT



EDUCATION

Required -Graduate of an accredited school of Radiologic Technology. ARRT registered. CPR certified.

Preferred – Advanced Certification in MRI.
