Raytheon Intelligence and Space (RI&S) is seeking an advanced expert professional to implement and manage a Mission and Quality Assurance program for manufactured Space Program electronics hardware. The candidate will perform rigorous independent reviews and assessments of area/program performance, including technical assessments of design and process engineering, Quality Assurance, lessons learned, industry best practices, and production. The candidate will also identify and implement improvements where the adequacy of area/program plans, requirements, process controls and validation approaches and process/product noncompliance have the potential to impact overall mission success. The selected professional will create or tailor existing processes or systems to administer customer and internal mission assurance and quality requirements to RI&S space program teams and suppliers.


Roles and responsibilities include, but not limited to the following:


  • Execute Mission Assurance responsibilities as a MA Leader of a program team

  • Ensure Quality Assurance engagement in engineering development, design, and test requirements verification, and in the transition of design to production

  • Lead multi-functional teams in problem investigation and resolution and process improvement activities with emphasis on defect prevention, including comprehensive RCCA summary work products.

  • Cultivate and maintain positive relationships with program management, cross-functional peers and leadership, suppliers, and customers

  • Lead Mission Assurance teams in performing to expectation and sustaining Space Program process rigor and thoroughness

  • This position reports to the National Systems Space Mission Assurance Manager.

  • The primary work location is Dallas, TX.

  • Domestic travel is required (~25%).


Required Skills:

  • Minimum of 8 years in Quality, Engineering or Operations with expert knowledge of Business/Quality Management Systems, engineering development, material and service acquisition, production, integration and test, product acceptance and post-delivery support.

  • Application and compliance to Quality Management System requirements IS0 9001, AS9100

  • Advanced knowledge of Industry and Government Space Mission Assurance Requirements and Standards

  • The ability to team with others in routine settings and difficult situations

  • Ability to collaborate with, and lead program team members to investigate issues, determine root and contributing causes and develop practical solutions to complex problems

  • Subject Matter Expertise of complex electronics manufacturing, inspection and test processes and associated work instruction development, review, and approval

  • Application of critical thinking to anticipate/predict decision process outcomes

  • Advanced knowledge of Raytheon RCAS or other effective closed-loop corrective action system

  • Past or present active member or chair of Material and Failure nonconformance review boards (MRB/FRB)

  • Experience with program phasing (nonrecurring/recurring activities)

  • Experience in measures and metrics assessments and leading actions to improve performance or prevent problem reoccurrence

  • Substantial knowledge of design engineering, reliability, and performance verification processes

  • Strong written/verbal presentation skills

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Word, Excel, and PowerPoint


Desired Skills:

  • Significant experience working on a government space payload or spacecraft program, or defense electronics program, with hi-reliability microelectronics manufacturing, process, and product qualification

  • Raytheon CORE Apprentice or Industry Six Sigma Greenbelt Certification

  • ASQ Certified Quality Engineer

  • Possess existing DoD Secret Clearance.


Required Education:

Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 8 years of prior relevant experience or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 6 years’ experience
