EMSL Analytical, Inc. is currently seeking a Full Time Microbiology Manager for its Indianapolis, IN location. The position will be primarily responsible for supervising the environmental microbiology operations. The incumbent will be able to lead a group of trained analysts and technicians to ensure quality data, timely results, and compliance to ISO 17025 and internal standards. The contract testing laboratory environment is fast-paced and requires attention to detail, high-level organizational skills, and the ability to multitask. This job also requires the ability to sit or stand for extended periods of time.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
Manage the daily operation of a contract microbiology testing laboratory.
Perform microbial and bio-aerosol preparation and analysis of samples for fungi and bacteria.
Manage and direct all daily activities in the lab including analyzing samples and maintaining the Quality Assurance/Quality Control program and the Standard Operation Procedures and AIHA accreditation requirements.
Assist with developing new analysis offerings in Indianapolis including, but not limited to fungal and bacterial cultures, plant pathology and microbiology special projects as needed. Microbiology Special Projects can include product testing and validation such as efficacy testing of disinfectants, antimicrobial plastics, coatings, materials, etc.
Oversee hiring and training of all new microbiology laboratory staff members.
Laboratory organization, supply inventory, calibrations, authoring and revising SOPs/forms and cleaning and maintenance of laboratory equipment.
Assist with client support as needed.
Requirements:
Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Microbiology, Biology, or Mycology discipline.
Two plus years' previous industry experience in a microbiology lab in a supervisory role is desired.
Must be experienced on Spore Trap and Direct Exams.
Experience in the analysis of bacterial, fungal or Legionella cultures is a plus.
Must be able to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignments.
Must have good communication, computer, organizational skills and attention to detail.
Candidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysis.
Available Shift:
Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..
