We are looking for a Metadata Manager to join the Central Marketing department of Macmillan Publishers.

This newly created role will report to the Vice President, Central Marketing. In this role, you will manage our approach to drive SEO and metadata insights, best practices, and optimizations from a marketing perspective. You’ll use consumer search data to make strategic recommendations that drive the discoverability of our titles and serve as subject matter expert, partnering closely with Data Scientists, Sales and Marketing analysts, and Publishing teams.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Review SEO and metadata quality and advise on optimizations to improve results for frontlist and backlist titles
  • Identify opportunities for content improvements and testing to increase engagement and drive sales
  • Act as the main point of contact for all marketing-related SEO and metadata inquiries for the Central Marketing team
  • Lead training sessions on SEO and metadata best practices for publishing teams across the company
  • Implement content and copy improvements to ensure alignment with appropriate keywords, market trends and consumer insights across all titles
  • Collaborate with cross-functional partners including marketing analysts, sales analysts, and data scientists to measure and track results of optimization efforts
  • Develop framework and regular reporting to demonstrate the success of SEO and metadata marketing tactics
  • Coordinating ongoing QA and updating of information to improve SEO and visibility across online retailers and digital properties
  • Monitor the latest trends to improve ranking and performance to make actionable recommendations
  • Maintain relationships with key vendors, platforms, and technology partners

Experience and Competencies:

  • Minimum 4 years of relevant experience.
  • Deep understanding of metadata, SEO, tags, and similar concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Self-starter with the ability to successfully manage multiple projects within deadlines
  • Passionate about learning, problem-solving, and leveraging data to inform SEO, metadata and content strategies to drive key business outcomes.
  • Experience planning and executing strategies that generate quality results
  • Strategic thinker with a problem-solving attitude.
  • Organized, with an innate attention to detail, and can execute tasks efficiently and effectively.
  • Learns quickly when facing new problems and can adapt to different situations, personalities, and requests.
  • A team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Brings a commitment and enthusiasm to work within a dynamic organization.
  • Experience working with SEO and metadata in the book industry a plus

Ideal Skills/Knowledge:

  • Broad knowledge of how the SEO, metadata, taxonomies, and keywords impact marketing strategy
  • Knowledge of SEO and metadata best practices across the digital landscape
  • Strong project and process management skills
  • Understanding of a marketing funnel and how to align campaign strategies with customer journeys.
  • Familiarity with new and emerging marketing tools and approaches

The annual salary for this role will be $60k-$66k.
