GENERAL DESCRIPTION : The Medical Social Worker is a licensed social work professional who is responsible for the delivery of clinical social work services to meet the medically related psychosocial needs of patients and families served by the hospital, in a manner reflective of the department's philosophy and objectives. Provides consultation to hospital and medical personnel related to bio-psycho-social issues, continuity of care and discharge planning functions.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS : Minimum of one year experience in a health care setting, preferably in acute care.

EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS : Bachelor degree in Social Work, or related degree, required. Graduate degree preferred. Current Social Work license by the Massachusetts Division of Registration in Social Work.
