To be responsible for Culling and Destruction of Medical Case Notes in line with Health Records Policy and associated Standard Operating Procedures (SOP’s)

The Health Records service is an essential element of patient care. The department runs within the guidelines of local policies and procedures and the Records Management: NHS Code of Practice.

To ensure that the Culling and Destruction of Case Notes is performed in line with trust policy and in accordance with the Data Protection Act and associated SOP’s.

To ensure all culling and destruction activity is recorded on the appropriate clinical systems in accordance with the appropriate SOPs – OASIS for case notes, CRIS / RIMS for X-ray packets.

Supporting (by completing) the amalgamation of notes to reduce capacity in libraries.

Pulling and Filing deceased records as required
