Position Summary

Provides services to patients and physicians through the collection, processing, and performance of clinical laboratory testing on specimens from infants, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. Responsible for meeting the established standards of practice and patient care, supplies and equipment, and for coordinating team work with all members of the health care team. This position can be filled be either a Medical Laboratory Scientist(MLS), Medical Technologist(MT), or a Medical Laboratory Technician(MLT). Supports our Northfield Urgent Care Clinics with the ability to float and pick up additional shifts at our other clinic locations.

Key Responsibilities:

• Obtains blood specimens using proper aseptic techniques including venipunctures and fingersticks.
• Follows the laboratory's procedures for specimen handling and possessing, test analyses, and reporting and maintaining records of patient test results.
• Performs waived and moderately complex laboratory testing.
• Performs and documents quality control, instrument maintenance and calibration.
• Follows the laboratory's established corrective action policies and procedures whenever a test system is not within the laboratory's established levels of acceptance.

Selection Criteria:

• College degree in Laboratory Science(MLS/MT) or two year Medical Laboratory Technician(MLT) graduate
• American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) certified or eligible
• Minimum of one year experience is preferred
• Working knowledge of Clinical Point of Care laboratory testing is preferred.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.

Scope:

• 40hrs/2wks
• Shifts: 7:45am-4:30pm, 07:45am-8:00pm, 4:00pm-8:00pm
• Weekends: Every third weekend rotation
• Holidays: As needed
