Job description
  • Identify patients that are potentially eligible for a medical furlough or a medical parole.
  • Collaborate with SCDC physicians as well as third-party physicians to determine the prognosis of all inmates that were referred for a medical furlough or medical parole.
  • Collaborate with institutional medical staff and central classification staff to gather information as it relates to the medical furlough/parole process.
  • Interview referred inmates and discuss the medical/parole process.
  • Interact with inmate's family and discuss the necessary forms needed for the medical/parole process.
  • Maintain a database of all referred cases.
  • Ensures variance data is maintained by reporting the data to the appropriate parties; as well as updating the database as needed.
  • Maintains a current list of resources for referrals and refers to the appropriate community resources.
  • Conduct in-home home study inspections with operations staff on all approved sponsors for medical furloughs.
  • Assist as needed with prior authorization for home healthcare for all approved medical furloughs/paroles.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

State of South Carolina Minimum Requirements:
(Or an acceptable equivalency as approved by the Division of State Human Resources).

SCDC Minimum Requirements:
Graduate of an accredited school of nursing and related nursing experience. Three (3) years of experience in the medical field.
