The Patient care coordinator/Medical assistant is the professional who will play a key role in supporting the medical team and the patients who entrust us with their care. This is a full-time position with opportunity for growth.

Core responsibilities:

We are looking for a professional and compassionate Patient care coordinator/Medical assistant to assist the providers in the examination and treatment of patients following established standards and practices, as directed by the physician leader and governance. A strong candidate will have great interpersonal skills and the ability to create a supportive environment.

Here is a snapshot of the day-to-day tasks as Patient care coordinator/Medical assistant with Express Health Urgent Care:

  • Greets and checks in patients at the center
  • Initiates the clinical record by collecting intake information from new patients
  • Collects and records billing and insurance information from patients
  • Performs clerical duties such as answering telephones, taking messages, filing, and data entry
  • Notifies clinicians of waiting patients as appropriate
  • Escorts patients into the medical treatment rooms and prepares the patients
  • Records medical histories, chief complaints, vital signs, and treatment information
  • Assists the physician in patient care and management of medical emergencies
  • Maintains cleanliness of the medical treatment room, and discards instruments and supplies to ensure that the room is ready for the next patient
  • Maintains inventory of medical supplies and equipment
  • Performs diagnostic tests including eye exams, EKGs, pulse ox, and peak flow
  • Performs lab tests, draws and collects blood, labels and processes specimens for reference labs according to physician orders
  • Prepares the samples for pick-up and shipment to the appropriate laboratories
  • Other duties as assigned by the nurse manager or practice administrator

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or GED, plus prior experience in a medical or healthcare setting
  • Strong computer skills required as different programs and websites will be utilized
  • Medical Assistant certification and current CPR certification is preferred

E eClinical EMR system experience preferred

  • Bilingual preferred
