Job description
Are you a detail-oriented, customer-focused individual with strong clinical skills looking to join a friendly, professional, and supporting medical practice? Calvert Internal Medicine Group, an extensive multi-specialty practice is looking for Medical Assistants to join our team. Positions may be in Dunkirk, Prince Frederick, or Solomons. Positions will require some evenings and every other Saturday morning.
Accountabilities:
- Inspects exam rooms for cleanliness and equipment condition; stocks and maintains rooms and nurses’ stations with adequate supplies.
- Performs one or more of the following daily: venipuncture; vitals (including manual blood pressure), PFT, EKG; PT/INR; urine dip; rapid strep; visual ccuity; injections; glucose finger stick; rapid flu A/B; point of care testing.
- Interviews patients to obtain medical information and measure their vital signs, weight, height, and medication reconciliation. Record patients’ medical history, vital signs, and information such as test results in the electronic medical records.
- Checks patients’ medical records for protocols
- Prepares Intake for office appointments, requests previous records and information from appropriate sources.
- Schedules appointments and tests as directed by the provider; reviews all requisitions (labs and x-rays) for completeness.
- Assists providers in examining and treating patients, handing them instruments and materials for performing such tasks as giving injections.
- Explain treatment procedures, medications, diets, and physicians’ instructions to patients.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
- HS diploma/equivalent.
- CMA, RMA, NCMA, CCMA, EMT-B, or EMT-1 certification is preferred.
- At least 1-year previous experience is required as a medical assistant, certified nursing assistant, or other clinical position in a hospital or doctor's office in place of certification required.
