Job Statement:

We are currently looking for applicants to fill our Medical Assistant role in our Internal Medicine department. We are accepting certified MA's to fill this role.

Internal Medicine: You will be part of our internal medicine team working with a registered nurse and assigned to a specific provider. Your schedule will match your providers and be a 4-day work week. If you need a 5-day work week we can accommodate that. Our Internal Medicine Medical Assistants do have a rotating Saturday every few weeks.

Essential Functions:

This role promotes and ensures the smooth day-to-day operation of the pediatrics department by assisting the nursing staff and physician with patient care. Patient flow is the highest priority. The Medical Assistant must be aware of the physician schedules and anticipate need. The following includes most of the Medical Assistant’s duties but is not limited to what is listed below:

  • Organize and distribute documents as appropriate.
  • Fax various forms
  • Escorts patients to and from exam rooms as appropriate
  • Room patients
  • Document vital signs, review current medications, and enter accurately in the patient's electronic chart
  • Prepares exam room with needed equipment for the various exams including cleaning of exam room and equipment on daily/weekly basis
  • Assists the physician with any procedures, while maintaining the comfort, privacy, confidentiality, and well-being of the patient
  • Administers medications and injection as directed by a physician or nurse. Document appropriately.
  • Applies orthopedic devices as directed by physician or nurse
  • Assists the physician with exams, medical procedures, and treatments, including but not limited to: Pelvic/PAP smears, Minor surgical procedures (i.e. excisions, incisions, wound drainage), Biopsies, KOH and wet mounts
  • Phlebotomy as requested by physician/RN.

*Please Note: Discretion of the Clinic Nurse Manager, Administration, and physician can always be invoked and adjusted at any time as required for patient care needs.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Current CPR card
  • Current Medical Assistant Certification, or Oregon Certified Nurse's Assistant, LPN licensed in the state of Oregon, or EMT in the state of Oregon. We prefer AAMA Certification.
  • Previous experience in pediatrics, or working with children preferred.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Highly motivated – self-starter
  • Attention to detail
  • Dedicated to ongoing learning
  • Excellent computer skills

All patients, staff, and providers are to wear a mask while in clinic. We follow OHA (Oregon Health Authority) recommendations and requirements for healthcare facilities as far as vaccine requirements go.
