MISSION

This position's prime objective is to effectively supervise a team of skilled-trades employees in the daily execution of work orders and performance maintenance checks to ensure the plant is maintained in proper order. Responsibility will also include participation in the implementation of process improvement projects.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Schedules and supervises the maintenance and mechanical work, oversees the work performed by maintenance crews and outside contractors, and manages any urgent or breakdown jobs as required to keep equipment running and minimize downtime.
  • Provides development of direct reports and motivates staff resulting in a reliable and competent work force. Provides technical assistance to maintenance personnel to expedite solutions.
  • Develops work schedules, equipment usage schedules, priority of mechanical expenditures and procedures for equipment and appliance maintenance to meet overall plant goals.
  • Prepares budgetary estimates, monitors the acquisition and use of materials, and maintains time, work order, material, equipment, and other mechanical shop records.
  • Determines, and may provide, appropriate training for employees, vendors, and visitors by evaluating skills, abilities, safety practices, and behaviors necessary to maintain job proficiencies.
  • Provide input into the design and implementation of mechanical aspects of projects to ensure tasks can be accomplished in a quality, cost-effective, and timely manner.
  • Proactively ensure the application of the plant’s rules of conduct and health & safety protocols during maintenance procedures to minimize injuries and lost time incidents.
  • Provide ongoing maintenance support to the plant for all shifts by evaluating and determining the course of action for maintenance incidents after hours and on weekends and may require on-site supervision of the resolution to maintain operational efficiency.
  • Ensure that the Maintenance department tools, and equipment, are in proper condition and that adequate stocks are maintained to allow maintenance activities to occur as scheduled.
  • Ensure compliance requirements are met through organizational and procedural measures including implementation of Group guidelines, performing trainings, monitoring compliance etc.
  • Participate in or lead JHA reviews and safety iniativites so as to ensure tasks are performed safely, that proper PPE is utilized as required, and other safety concerns are promptly addressed.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS

· EDUCATION:

  • 10 years of mechanical repair and maintenance experience, including at least 1 year of supervisor experience; OR,
  • Completion of a four-year accredited technical training program in mechanical repair and maintenance AND 3 years of relevant experience which includes 1 year of supervisory experience.

· EXPERIENCE: Prior experience working with large rotating heavy mining industry machinery and equipment; Demonstrated ability to lead others with or without direct authority.

· SPECIFIC KNOWLEDGE:

  • Solid organizational skills; Working knowledge of SAP; Familiarity with Microsoft Office products including MS Excel and Word.
  • Understanding of rotary kiln mechanics, knowledge of ball mills, cement conveying equipment, and slurry pumps.

· BUSINESS UDERSTANDING: Prior experience working with or interpreting Collective Bargaining Agreements is a plus.

OTHER: Ability to anticipate and adapt to changing situations; Ability to perform tasks that include walking, climbing equipment, working within confined spaces and occasionally lifting up to 50 lbs.; Willingness to provide coverage during off-shift hour and weekends as required.
