Materials Supervisor - Shipping & Receiving
Summary
The primary duty of this position is to lead the shipping team to help ensure 100% on time delivery.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Coordinate shipping functions of the facility
  • Schedule inbound and outbound shipments as necessary
  • Oversee daily dock audits both inbound and outbound
  • Manages container inventory for customers
  • Assist in physical inventories
  • Prepare shipping documents for shipments to customers
  • Lead improvement projects to improve efficiencies and processes
  • Maintain shipping team hours
  • Routinely visit, navigate, and update customer portals as needed
Skills and Abilities
  • Strong written and verbal communications skills
  • Microsoft Office to include Excel and word
  • General understanding of material in manufacturing environment
  • Ability to solve complex problems
  • Ability to become proficient using internal inventory and order management systems

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Language Skills
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs. Must be able to demonstrate analytical skills necessary to do a cycle count.
Computer Skills
Ability to use email. Must have working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong Microsoft Excel skills is a must.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form. Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Certificates, Licenses, Registrations
Ability to drive a forklift efficiently.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts. The employee is frequently exposed to vibration. The employee is occasionally exposed to fumes or airborne particles and outside weather conditions. The noise level in the work environment is usually loud.

Personally maintain and accident/injury free status.
Quality: Ensure the quality of your work meets or exceeds your customer’s expectations. Keep your customer and team mates informed of quality issues and lead team in the development of permanent countermeasures to prevent reoccurrence. Practice the use of the concepts of Six Sigma and TPM in solving problems. Follow TS-16949 policies and procedures.
Employee Development: Take advantage of continuing education and training opportunities to ensure continued growth and development in your job. Ensure you are adequately trained to successfully do your job. Work with your Supervisor/Team Leader in scheduling adequate time to complete required training. Successfully complete all required training on a timely basis. Monitor your training records and certification sheets to ensure they accurately reflect progress.
Performance Management: Maintain your performance to acceptable levels in all areas of responsibility. Understanding when you are not at your job as scheduled it puts a hardship on your team and can ultimately lead to lose production and missed shipments to our customers; you must manage your attendance performance to a level that meets or exceeds the plant standard.

  • Individual safety performance measured by frequency of accident and observed safe behaviors.
  • Individual quality performance as measured by scrap, rework, and adherence to quality standards.
  • Individual productivity as measured by operational efficiency.
  • Individual observance of 5-S and TPM procedures.
  • Demonstrated cooperation in working with and supporting each other and other teams.
