POSITION SUMMARY

Responsible for up to 16 company retail stores and their operations throughout the assigned geographical area. Oversight of recruiting and coordinating store managers, inspecting stores regularly, reporting to senior management, and implementing sales campaigns.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:

  • Makes regular and varied shift visits to the stores, having oversight of overall operations
  • Responsible for the hiring, training, and development of the retail management teams
  • Ensures customer/marketing initiatives are executed properly
  • Monitors locations for meeting standards in the areas of stocking, store cleanliness, and presentation, including outside property and service areas. Expected to perform hands-on assistance as needed
  • Ensure inventory is maintained at proper levels and audits are completed, addressing any discrepancies
  • Maintain a competitive awareness of the region and communicate developments to appropriate internal levels
  • Ensures all safety and security programs and processes are adhered to
  • Responsible for loss prevention program compliance, controlling shrink with cash and cash equivalents as well as company property and all assets
  • Create and maintain payroll and sales budgets, while minimizing operational costs where able
  • Assist with system updates and transitions, such as a new POS rollout
  • Analyze reports and invoices, provide metrics/performance reports to leadership
  • Responsible for accounts receivable/payable, and proper execution of price changes, and Pricebook
  • Assist with and address employment matters as needed and with human resource guidance
  • Provide coaching to management team and conduct succession planning efforts to meet company growth and development needs
  • Other duties as assigned

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES):

  • Bachelor’s degree preferred
  • 5+ years multi-unit retail management experience
  • Knowledge and understanding of convenience store operations and related regulatory compliance measures
  • Excellent analytical, reasoning and problem-solving skills
  • Strong leadership and proven supervisory skills
  • Strong communication and coaching skills
  • Ability to apply basic math concepts and understand a profit and loss statement
  • Able to speak, read, write the English language
  • Must maintain an acceptable motor vehicle driving record, current drivers license, and state required auto insurance
  • Strong grasp of Microsoft Office programs, as well as Outlook, and POS systems

The job is usually performed indoors in a convenience store setting. There are regular outside property oversight duties, with exposure to outside elements. Activities include extended periods of standing and walking, as well as bending, stooping, squatting, sitting, climbing, and reaching. Ability to communicate orally with candidates, employees, management, and customers. Regular use of the telephone and e-mail for communication is essential. Hearing and vision within normal ranges is essential for normal conversations and interactions with customers, to receive ordinary information and to prepare or inspect documents. Requires good manual dexterity for the use of equipment common to convenience stores (e.g., computers, mobile devices, POS, drink machines, food storage and delivery equipment, gas pumps, break-aways, etc.). Regular exertion of up to 30 lbs. of force for stocking, putting up deliveries, and may occasionally be required to lift up to 50 lbs. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate. Due to common convenience store and gas station equipment, may be exposed to moving equipment parts, electrical sources, hot and cold temperatures and substances, and moderate to strong odors. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally required to travel (10%) therefore exposure to moving mechanical parts, vehicles, and common transportation related elements is present.
