JOB DESCRIPTION

Thurgood Marshall College Fund (TMCF) is the nation’s largest organization exclusively representing the Black College Community. TMCF member-schools include the publicly supported Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs) and Predominantly Black Institutions (PBIs).

The Scholarships Manager will support the scholarship team in offering financial aid assistance, emergency scholarships, and providing wrap-around support to our member school students.

Senior Manager of Scholarships

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Scholarships AVP and Sr. Manager in day-to-day scholarship administrations.
  • Maintain communication with internal and external stakeholders via email, phone and virtual or in-person meetings (as needed)
  • Develop and maintain knowledge of scholarship management platform.
  • Day-to-day scholarship administration- throughout the scholarship lifecycle process (from applicant inquiry to disbursement).
  • Responsible for daily monitoring of assigned scholarship processes to include collecting and analyzing data, documenting results, and identifying and discussing implications.
  • Serve as subject matter expert in advising internal and external stakeholders on scholarship processes and industry trends/best practice.
  • Ensure the accuracy and timeliness for assigned scholarship disbursements.
  • Assist the AVP and Sr. Manager in reporting scholarship application data for reports (as needed)
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Competencies and Qualifications

  • 3+ years of experience working in client management, higher education, customer service, or related role.
  • Advanced computer skills and technology experience, including with Microsoft Office Suite and G-Suite (Google).
  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Excellent communication skills that demonstrate a high level of professionalism.
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member.
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills, with attention to detail and ability to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to think creatively and pragmatically to develop viable solutions for the scholarship team and our internal customers.
  • Ability to manage through technology systems and standard processes to address the demands of the team.

SPECIAL DEMANDS

  • Occasional evening and weekend work may be required as job demands.
  • Travel required: 25% Travel is primarily locally during the business day, although some out of the area travel and overnight may be expected.
  • Maintain strict confidentiality of employee data, business activities, key information, etc.
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds
