Meter to Cash is an organization within Customer Operations responsible for working collaboratively with our business partners to develop, implement and execute over 100 million customer transactions annually. Teams are located throughout the NiSource territory.
This position is a critical member of the team responsible for achieving meter reading performance levels to prevent disruption in customer billing along with the effective execution of field collections functions across the NiSource footprint. The incumbent will be responsible for balancing the costs of collections activities with the risk of rising accounts receivable to the company’s overall financial health. This will be done all while ensuring compliance with state and federal requirements. The role will require strong collaboration and influencing skills to work cross functionally across the organization .
This position will focus on the effective execution of field collections and will provide support for meter reading functions across the NiSource footprint. Principal Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain a culture of safety and inclusion & diversity.
  • Lead, manage, develop and train a geographically dispersed team.
  • Primary owner of contractor relationships, management, and performance.
  • Ensure contracts within the department are structured, monitored and managed effectively.
  • Provide input and information used in state and federal regulatory proceedings.
  • Consult with Legal, Regulatory, Finance, Operations Planning, Work Management, Field Operations, Gas Transportation, IT and other necessary internal/external entities regarding projects, initiatives, and issues.
  • Manage and monitor workload to ensure goals are achieved while supporting quality.
  • Maintain and build effective, cross functional working relationships across NiSource.
  • Develop and execute on coaching and performance management plans.
  • Ensure the timely delivery of department projects within scope and budget.
  • Determine and evaluate strategic issues. Recommend strategic alternatives and develop strategy plans.
  • Execute and lead change initiatives.
  • Manage department budgets.
  • Manage the Sarbanes Oxley compliance testing for the assigned Meter to Cash function.
Qualifications
Required Selection Experiences:
  • Basic knowledge and skills in customer service and credit/collections
  • Proven ability to work across departments and all levels in the organization collaboratively to resolve issues, drive projects to closure, achieve desired results/goals, and/or implement change as needed
  • Demonstrated ability to identify, communicate, and resolve problems
  • Proven track record of achieving results
  • Proven ability to effectively prioritize workload
  • Must be self-directed, with ability to work both independently and collaboratively
  • Ability to manage multiple processes and initiatives in a cross functional environment
  • Strong leadership skills
  • PC software proficiency (Word, Excel, Powerpoint)
  • Excellent oral, written, presentation and listening communication skills
Preferred Experiences:
  • Gas and/or electric distribution industry
  • Meter to Cash operations and technology
  • State and Federal Regulations governing meter to cash processes
  • Budget management
Education
  • Requires a Bachelors degree or comparable industry related work experience
