SUMMARY:

This individual will directly oversee the entire life cycle of national and international freight logistics, including purchase, distribution, internal allotment, release and final clearance of resources. This individual must be a detail-oriented multi-tasker with a passion for streamlining processes, forming strong professional relationships, and managing multiple projects simultaneously.


WHAT YOU’LL DO:

  • Files and tracks all freight claims
  • Coordinates shipping schedules with planning department
  • Oversees outgoing shipping activities to ensure accuracy, completeness, and condition of shipments.
  • Is responsible for the development and administration of programs to determine the most advantageous and economical methods of shipment for company products.
  • Determines space requirements and position of shipment in trucks and lays out position of shipment.
  • Determines routing and legal load limits of trucks, according to established schedules and weight limits of states.
  • Inspects loading operations to ensure compliance with shipping specifications, and seals loaded truck doors.
  • Inspects material handling equipment for defects and notifies maintenance personnel for repair.
  • Plans and routes shipments of company products and arranges pick up of purchased parts and work in process by company delivery trucks.
  • Directs movement of shipments from assembly lines to storage or shipping dock.
  • Issues written and oral instructions.
  • Studies and standardizes procedures to improve efficiency of subordinates.
  • Publishes Departmental KPIs
  • Liaises with Rheem corporate Logistics for freight.
  • Maintains close liaison with all carriers used.
  • Determines best or acceptable routing for all inbound and outbound shipments at the factory or the field warehouses.
  • Prepares and maintains documents for import and export shipments.
  • Pre-audits freight bills payable by the Company.
  • Maintains Shipping Department files.
  • Traces and obtains proofs of delivery of shipments.
  • Places orders for all shipping stationary, supplies, equipment and lumber for crating.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Directly supervises employees in the shipping department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Qualifications


WHAT YOU’LL NEED:

  • BA/BS in Engineering, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Experience identifying improvement opportunities through lean processing techniques (e.g., six-sigma, value stream mapping, advanced planning, time studies) and structured problem methods (e.g., root cause analysis, statistical analysis, fishbone diagrams, FEMA).
  • Advanced knowledge of MS Excel/PowerPoint and ERP systems (Oracle preferred).
  • Competency with a WMS, ERP system(s) in a manufacturing and distribution environment.
  • Competency with manufacturing and production workflow
  • Solid knowledge of Hyperion & Access.
  • Strong ability to interpret data and draw conclusions.
  • Strong project management and multitasking skills with adherence to deadlines.
  • Ability to recognize opportunities and initiate changes related to fleet backhauls, inventory buying strategies, and other areas of optimization.
  • Ability to work well both independently and in a cross functional team environment.
  • Ability to effectively communicate supply chain opportunities to suppliers and internal stakeholders.
  • Strong understanding of transportation modes and related tariffs.
  • Solid understanding of finance and mathematics
  • Implemented departmental KPIs.
  • Supported of Just-in-Time manufacturing processes.
  • 5-7 years in a senior manager capacity, preferably industrial manufacturing and/or production.
  • Preferably running a facility with multiply shifts.
  • Preferably managing multiple shifts and/or locations with 10+ employees.
  • Knowledge of managing machinery, trucks, industrial equipment.
  • Proven record of People Management.
  • Manufacturing industry experience.
  • Bi-lingual English/Spanish.
