Manager, Learning and Development

Position Profile :
The Manager, Learning and Development is a member of HR Operations reporting into the HR Operations Manager lead by the Executive Vice President & CFO. This individual is responsible for determining the training and development needs of Marotta Controls, creating a Learning and Development Strategy, and implementing programs for both Hourly and Salaried employees including in-person and on-line training using local Subject Matter Experts (SMEs), recognized 3rd Party Trainers and Certification Programs, Continuing Education Courses, Mentor/Mentee Practices, Leadership Development Courses, and Best Practices for the Development of High Performing Work Teams.
Essential or Primary / Key Responsibilities:
Responsibilities of the Manager Learning and Development include but is not limited to:
  • Manage the design, development, pilot, delivery, and evaluation of innovative learning and capability development solutions that support Marotta professionals' performance and growth
  • Developing employee proficiencies for Hourly and Salaried employees in:
    • Strategic Skills
    • Leadership Skills
    • Interpersonal Skills
    • Technical Skills
    • Performance Skills
  • DiSC, Situational Leadership, Strength Finder, and/or other professional development courses.
  • Preferred: Professional Organization Development and Trainer certifications such as Myers-Briggs Type Indicator®, DiSC Certification, DDI, Crucial Conversations or other renowned products and tools.
  • Certifications in programs like DiSC, Situational Leadership, DEI, Strength Finders, and Emotional Intelligence are desired.
  • Work with existing managers to identify learning gaps and develop modules to fill the needs
  • Attract and Retain talent,
  • Develop Human Capital and Team Building,
  • Create a values-based culture and help build an employer brand of employee engagement,
  • Motivate and Engage employees.
Additional Duties / Responsibilities:
  • Responsible for empowering employees' growth and developing their knowledge, skills, competencies and capabilities to grow in their roles and professional development and to drive better business performance.
  • Develop the knowledge and skills needed to be competitive in today’s workplace.
  • Author, revise and maintain Marotta Controls’ Learning and Development processes and procedures.
  • Bring initiatives and activities to closure in a timely manner through effective interaction with individuals, both internal and external to the Marotta organization (as required).
  • Foster a positive and cooperative work environment through effective communication at all levels internal and external to the organization.
  • Facilitate training/mentorship of other employees.
  • Consistently demonstrate commitment to company values.
  • Keep management informed of training and development related activities.
  • Develop and maintain constructive and cooperative working relationships with personnel at all levels company wide.
  • Assume responsibility for related duties as required or assigned.
  • Complete special projects and miscellaneous assignments on time.
Minimum Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Instructional Design, Learning Technologies, Human Resources or comparable area of study or relevant experience in lieu of degree.
  • 8 years relevant work experience (or combination of experience and education) developing strategic cross organizational training, learning, development programs supporting a Technical Workforce in Manufacturing,
  • Demonstrated, end-to-end project/program management experience: conception and initiation, planning, execution, performance/monitoring, and project close
  • Working knowledge of talent structure modeling, organizational design and effectiveness, change management, outcome-based learning construction, learner engagement, people analytics, and organizational and workforce performance.
  • Exemplary verbal/written communication skills required for multi-faceted interactions with all levels of personnel within the organization, as well as any and all outside agents, including but not limited to University Relations, third party training providers, potential job candidates, etc.
  • Computer literate with MS Office/PC expertise and demonstrated experience with applicable data science systems, programs, equipment, etc.
Work Environment:
  • This job interacts both in a professional office environment and a manufacturing/machine shop environment.
  • This role uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, and photocopiers.
  • This is a full-time position with occasional evening and weekend work are required as job duties demand.
  • Some local travel may be required for this position (10-15%).
This position supports both our Montville and Parsippany NJ office locations.
