Who we are: The 4-H Youth Development Center of the Alabama Cooperative Extension System is a full-service, camp and conference facility nestled on nearly 200 acres of lush woodlands on Lay Lake in Columbiana, Alabama. We serve audiences of all sizes and ages ranging from hundreds of youth attending traditional overnight summer camp to year-round school groups participating in 4-H Science School activities to adult groups on a corporate retreat. The center also host weddings, receptions, and other special events.

Essential Functions
- This individual will lead a team in providing outstanding meals and service to create an extraordinary dining experience for all our guests.
- Facilitate process improvement, strategic planning, scheduling, training and team development, quality control, supply chain coordination, and cost statements
- Maintain the required standards of operation in daily kitchen activities
- Effectively communicate with customers, staff and leadership
- Identify & solve problems; asking for help when necessary
- Prepare kitchen for meal preparation.
- Keeps kitchen and equipment used in meal preparation cleaned properly.
- Places food and supply orders with vendors. Checks invoices for accuracy. Maintains accurate inventory for all food and supplies.
- Trains and coaches new and existing staff on department policies and procedures, health department regulations and safety procedures.
- Plans, prepares, and delivers guests meals.
- Creates a variety menu options for diverse groups and guests including youth groups and summer camps to special events including weddings, rehearsal dinners, reunions and receptions.
- Develops elaborate menu options for diverse organizations including corporate, youth, faith based, etc. as well as, develops alternative menus for specific dietary restrictions.
- Prepares and instructs other cooks on meal preparation, quantity of food to prepare and instructions on new menu items and/or special needs.
- Recruits, hires & retains staff
- Coordinates work schedule for staffing needs.
- Maintains records and upkeeps for annual city/county food inspections
- Participates in industry trade associations and meetings
- Coordinates with suppliers to oversee orders, food costs and profit margins
- Full supervisory responsibility for other employees including training, evaluating, and making or recommending pay, promotion or other employment decisions
- Other duties as requested to ensure the success of all Alabama 4-H Center events.

Education:High School Diploma or equivalent
Experience: 4 years of experience in food services including food preparation and use of cooking equipment
