We are seeking an organized, proactive, and financially savvy Financial Planning and Analysis Manager to join our team! In this role, you will provide planning, forecasting, and analysis activities within EdPlus to influence optimized business performance, reporting, and insight to enable informed decision-making by the unit. This position includes a broad scope of accounting and financial planning functions while partnering with operations. You'll be able to consider a range of goals, priorities, timelines, and funding guidelines as you implement the unit’s financial and business functions.

The ideal candidate will be a self-starter with an efficient work methodology including close attention to detail, skilled in maintaining effective working relationships in a diverse population, and experienced in handling confidential and sensitive information. They will be an effective communicator who brings an empathic, persuasive, service-oriented approach in a structured, fast-paced, and supportive environment with established guidelines.

The person in this position will routinely interact with other members of the EdPlus staff acting as a Finance Business Partner to a group of functional leads (marketing, operations, research, technology, user experience, etc.) , as well as staff at all ASU levels, so professionalism and excellent communication skills are critical. The successful Manager will have the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and have the capability to problem solve and work well in a fast-paced, deadline-driven team environment. A candidate that possesses a desire to take on additional responsibilities in the future and grow into a more senior position is preferred.

Essential Duties

Here is what you’ll do day-to-day:

  • Closely partner with EdPlus functional teams for all their analysis, forecasting, and planning requirements.
  • Provide insights by developing forecasts and annual plans.
  • Communicate with CFO on results of forecasts and analysis with clarity and completeness.
  • Develop data-driven projections and build financial models based on collected and transformed data from multiple sources to influence senior leaders.
  • Apply experience and wisdom in a way that engages business teams to strategize and evaluate possible solutions.
  • Analyze past results, perform variance analysis, identify trends, and make recommendations for improvements.
  • Align on and drive key initiatives.
  • Prepare, coordinate, and document financial analysis and ad hoc requests.
  • Create, review, and analyze presentations.
  • Work collaboratively with University academic units and services to facilitate student support in a manner that maintains and grows relationships.
  • Work effectively in a fast-paced environment subject to tight deadlines and potentially conflicting priorities.
  • Advanced duties and responsibilities will include coordinating the monthly financial reporting package, annual Budget, and quarterly Forecast process between EdPlus Finance Business Partners and the Office of Planning and Budget. Ultimately, the goal is to provide training and mentorship to the existing staff to perform these functions when or as needed.
  • Assume or coordinate other duties or projects as assigned or directed by the Chief Financial Officer.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelors degree in Accounting or related field and five year (5) years of professional accounting and/or professional financial operations experience, OR, Any equivalent combination of experience and/or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.

Desired Qualifications

  • Evidence of a bachelor’s degree or higher (preferably in Accounting or Finance).
  • Eight (8) years of relevant experience (CPA/MBA is a plus).
  • Ability to partner with cross-functional teams and present ideas to management.
  • Work experience in a collaborative and quantitatively heavy role.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Excel.
  • Tenacity to understand results and processes and passion to improve them.
  • Experience in using analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to get to root cause.
  • Experience in pulling, analyzing, and applying pertinent data sets, both accurately and timely.
  • Evidence of an effective verbal and written communication style that is persuasive, motivating, and supportive (verbal and written as you will be preparing presentations.)
  • Experience managing quickly changing priorities which may include resolution of conflicts.
  • Ability to continuously challenge the status quo and seek optimal ways of supporting the business needs.
  • Business acumen and judgment to communicate and influence Sr/Executive management.
  • Evidence of solid technical finance skills (accounting, planning, modeling, etc.)
  • Experience with higher education, academic, and university policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Experience with Salesforce.
  • Experience with Workday and Adaptive Planning application.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $83,000.00 - $100,000.00 per year
