Are you an experienced Environmental, Health & Safety (EHS or EH&S) leader? This is an exciting opportunity for a Senior EHS leader to manage a team of 20 Safety, Environment, Emergency Response, and Industrial Hygiene Staff, and contracted personnel to support the refinery operations. You will influence and balance the needs of the Refinery Leadership Team and external groups (public, government) and recommend priorities and actions. Your goals are operational excellence and continuous improvement in such areas as personal safety, environmental compliance, emergency response, and industrial hygiene support. As EHS Manager, you will ensure the site meets all applicable EHS regulatory requirements and company standards.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Bachelor's Degree in engineering, environmental science, occupational health, industrial hygiene, safety or other related discipline
  • 10-15 years of related work experience and extensive knowledge in the fields of Safety, Environment, Emergency Response, and Industrial Hygiene, crossing other functional areas such as Loss Management, Risk Management, Process Safety, and Operational Excellence
  • Strong coaching and leadership skills and previous leadership experience
  • Previous experience applying risk management principles and communicating risk
  • Strong negotiation and previous experience with contract renewals and management of technical consultants
  • Understanding of legal, regulatory, and due diligence processes
  • Professional network with external agencies industry associations, peers
  • Ability to work effectively in an advisory capacity, to influence management, internal and external peers, external agencies and our community groups

Responsibilities:
  • Provide stewardship of EHS performance to refinery leadership
  • Report on plant operations to external regulatory bodies in the areas of safety compliance, water effluent and air emissions
  • Coordinate inputs from various sources to prepare Operating Permits for submission to the appropriate Federal and/or State regulators and stewards site projects approvals through open communication/dialogue with government agencies and community representatives
  • Participate with community advisory functions which includes meeting with public and government officials, responding to complaints, and involvement in open house activities
  • Provide for 24/7 response to safety and environmental issues and take a lead role in Emergency Response activities
  • Interpret legislation, regulations standards, or industry practices often without precedents or guidelines
  • Develop and manage refinery EHS budgets (approximately $15.0M/year)
  • Make recommendations for capital expenditure for projects related to safety, emission controls, water treatment, waste management, and personal exposure reduction

Location and other Key Details:
  • You will work out of our Commerce City refinery, located at 5801 Brighton Blvd.
  • Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday, with the potential for extended work hours based on business needs, including being on-call as appropriate and potentially working night shifts as necessary during large scale outages, turnarounds, and/or emergencies
  • You may be required to use ladders and work on elevated work sites such as scaffolds and towers with the ability to perform in a variety of different environments both indoor and outdoor as well as within confined spaces

Salary and Compensation Details:
  • $140,000 - $155,000 annual salary and an annual incentive program
