Overall Responsibilities: This position is responsible for the development of an organizational compliance program, bringing together elements such as, but not limited to, HIPAA, FQHC/HRSA compliance standards, FTCA compliance standards, health care risk management compliance, corporate compliance policies and processes, and others. The position will be responsible for overseeing compliance in collaboration with other staff . The position will also work collaboratively with other managers to ensure compliance in their departments (example: Nursing Director and clinical risk management).

Description of Duties:

  • Working with other staff, develops an integrated, agency wide compliance plan ensuring that all required elements of a compliance program are identified and addressed.
  • Develops and implements a system to routinely review HRSA-FQHC Compliance Standards and ensure a system of review is in place that supports adherence and processes for adjustment if indicated.
  • Analyzes and assesses compliance with Federally Qualified Health Center standards and requirements and develops, monitors, coordinates and submits HealthWorks? annual Federal Tort Claims Act application.
  • Develops and implements formal integrated processes to ensure other departments have processes that will ensure compliance in their areas of expertise ? example clinical risk management, facility management, financial practice, 340B.
  • Assists QI staff in developing policies and processes and as appropriate monitors program compliance.
  • Designs and implements a formal process for compliance audits and ongoing evaluation.
  • Develops and oversees processes for internal incident reporting and trend analysis.
  • Serves as HITECH/HIPAA privacy and compliance officer and develops related policies and procedures.
  • Conducts annual HIPPA training and update
  • Attends external compliance trainings provided by NACHC and/or other agencies as directed by the CEO.
  • Monitors the employees concerns and complaints and any potential fraud/abuse reports.
  • Collaborates with the Chief Medical Officer (CMO) in the investigation of clinical events.
  • Oversees development and implementation of HW Safety and Risk Management Plan.
  • Acts as the Safety Officer across all sites to identify and correct any safety concerns.
  • Working with other staff, ensures regular safety drills are implemented (example fire, active shooter).
  • Working with the CFO, responds to and handles malpractice claims or allegations (compiling medical records, completing documentation responses for Administrative Tort Claims and informational requests, and disseminating litigation hold notices)
