Your Impact:


Works with the Program Manager and Maintenance Supervisor to plan and lead the maintenance group responsible for operational maintenance and improvements at NASA's Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA. Safe operation through training, procedural emphasis, and personal commitment critical. Responsible for skill and safety training and certification of facility engineers and unionized tradesmen assigned to scheduled and unscheduled maintenance tasks. Manages resources (labor, equipment, vehicles, parts, materials, etc.) within the assigned budget. Guides maintenance engineers and technicians in the use of RCM methodologies to enhance facility availability and reliability. Ensures planning and scheduling of preventive maintenance and projects to maximize efficiency and reliability of equipment. Responsible for safe and efficient use of specialty subcontractors for facility asset management of elevators, cranes/lifting devices, compressor and related pressure vessel maintenance, transformer maintenance, etc. Interacts closely with customers to plan and prioritize work and ensure quality on-time maintenance and project completion.

Here’s What You’ll Need:


Two-year Associate degree or four-year Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of 8 years’ experience in the leadership of a maintenance organization providing scheduled preventive maintenance, unscheduled trouble call repairs, and funded project work. The ideal candidate should have a strong background in safety, experience leading unionized tradesmen (plumbers, electricians, alarm technicians, HVAC technicians, carpenters, etc.), and experience with Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS). CMRP or CRL certification preferred.

  • Strong organizational skills with good attention to detail
  • Self-motivated and takes initiative to solve problems as required
  • Ability to maintain a positive and professional attitude on all assignments
  • Tact, diplomacy, and proficiency in collaborating and communicating with all levels of staff
  • Ability to work with union leadership to resolve union related issues such as grievances
  • Build positive/effective relationships with clients

Essential Functions


  • Use of appropriate PPE (footwear, safety glasses, gloves, hearing protection, etc.)
  • Work in an office environment and in the field daily.
  • Use PC and software (Microsoft Office 365, CMMS, etc.), and other standard office equipment.
  • Must be able to obtain a Federal Access Clearance
  • Must take and pass pre-employment screening, drug screening and background check.
