OVERVIEW: Senior Management Position

MAJOR ACTIVITIES PERFORMED:

Assists the Maintenance Manager in planning and controlling all personnel assigned to the Maintenance Department.

Make hiring recommendations, indoctrinate, train, and promote only the most qualified individuals. Ensure all individuals are afforded an equal opportunity in employment and advancement.

Planning for, scheduling and coordinating usage of supporting cranes, tugs, workboats, and other equipment services.

Maintaining and accounting for all Contractor and Government furnished equipment. Maintaining and repairing of GFP and GFE as required.

Focus on safety. Provide a work environment that reduces to zero the number of lost workdays, injuries, and accidents.

Direct and provide supervision to assigned Supervisors.

Engage all levels within the maintenance department in the process of identifying, implementing, and enforcing newer and better ways to exceed customer expectations in all undertakings. Ask questions and actively listen in an effort to ensure a complete understanding of employee ideas and concerns.

Removal of all historical, pilferable or confidential material from Inactivated vessels.

Coordinating with the Inspection Department for all inspections required to preserve, activate, inactivate and receive vessels and provide inactivation briefings as required.

Manage all aspects of waterfront work including monitoring of subcontractor performance.

Estimation of labor hours, materials, and supplies and schedule required to compete assigned tasking.

Ensure that proper training and certifications for personnel are provided for in the safe operation of cranes and other weight handling equipment.

Adhere to safety, health, and environmental regulations and requirements in all maintenance operations.

Provide clear, firm, and consistent leadership while fostering a team culture built on the company’s core values of individual accountability, growth, safety, respect, integrity, and commitment.

Shall complete required performance reports on all assigned employees and provide performance feedback

Require adherence to all corporate core values, policies, and procedures in the execution of all responsibilities.

Ensure discipline is consistent and administered in accordance with company policies and the Union Bargaining Agreement.

Must be able to work effectively with co-workers in a professional manner at all times.

Ensure that performance feedback, mentoring, and coaching is practiced within your department.

Travel as necessary (including out of country) to conduct company business.

Other work as assigned and which the employee is qualified and able to perform in support of other trades or evolutions required for safe operation of the site and proper execution of contractual requirements.

RESPONSIBILITY AND AUTHORITY:

(a) Employee Relations: Must maintain a close and effective working relationship with all employees and Contracting Officer’s Representative (COR)

(b) Evaluates personnel performance

(c) Material or Product: As required by contract

(d) Equipment: Government Furnished Property, Government Furnished Vehicles, Equipment and materials as provided by the government

(e) Money: Funds on the Contract by work order

(f) Business Contacts:

a. Internal: All employees, leadership and management

b. External: Military, Sub-Contractors and government representatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum:

Navy or Maritime ship maintenance-related background with at least 3 years of which involved managerial responsibilities. Must have a valid state driver’s license and be qualified to operate government/company vehicles in accordance with the Corporate Vehicle Safety Manual. May be required to qualify as a Workboat Operator (LCM type) and forklift operator.

Preferred: An Associate’s degree in any field and four (4) years of managerial experience related to ships maintenance. Alternatively, at least five (5) years of ship maintenance experience and two (2) years of managerial experience. Previous Navy experience in Rigging, Engineering or Electrical trades a plus.

General Information:

In order to perform the essential job functions of this position, the successful candidate must be able to lead and inspire people and manage projects. Perform daily inspections of worksites and provide immediate performance feedback to supervision and the workforce. Set the highest standards for performance expectations and hold entire department to those standards. Compose/write descriptive reports; verbally direct individuals and groups; remedy dysfunctional behavior; and establish and maintain positive working relationships with all employees and the customer.

Knowledge Required:

Must have general computer skills and Microsoft Office program skills. Must have knowledge of the operation, maintenance and weigh handling requirements for cranes, fork lifts, man lifts and rigging equipment.
