NW4S, Inc. is currently located in Tualatin, Oregon, but will be relocating its facilities and operation by the end of 2023. Machine Operator Lead
Machine Operator Lead:

Future location is Lewiston, Idaho. Current Job Location is in Tualatin, Oregon.

Basic Purpose and Objective:
Under general supervision, and according to established policies and procedures, set up and operates one or more forming/secondary machines to shape & form or assembly parts to blueprint specifications and set-up charts.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

Machine Operator Lead Duties:

  • Set up form tools on servo press machines (3-6 ton presses) and perform set up verifications.
  • Monitor forming operations to ensure conformance of parts.
  • Readjusts machine to achieve specified product dimensions.
  • Troubleshoot issues at the machine and collaborate with tooling department to remedy issues
  • Train, coach, and validate employee set ups
  • Learn how to program and integrate automation and robotics
  • Set up and monitor assembly, tapping, shearing, and other secondary operations
  • Manage workflow of department
  • Assist in prototype tooling development
  • Repair or fabricate tooling
  • Part data collection
  • Enforcement of appropriate safety measures
  • Develop continuous improvement projects
  • Monitor employee productivity and provide constructive feedback
  • Operate machines
  • Maintains housekeeping in the work areas.

Qualifications

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

  • Mathematical Skills – Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, fractions and decimals; Ability to calculate figures.
  • Blue Print Reading – Ability to read and interpret diagrams, dimensions and tolerances.
  • Education and/or Experience – One year certificate from college or technical school; or two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Communication Skills – Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedures manuals; Ability to write detailed machine set-up procedures.
  • Reasoning Ability – Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of basic computer functions such as excel, microsoft word, and outlook.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand. The employee is occasionally required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, peripheral vision and depth perception.
