Description:

Responsible for the day-to-day operation of the facility from a maintenance, security, HES and materials handling standpoint. Manage both third party and internal team members to maintain a safe and operable facility.

Key Responsibilities Include:

  • Maintain safe, lawfully compliant and efficient operation of the Braskem Renewable Innovation Center through the management of the Lexington Health, Environmental and Safety program.
  • Maintain compliance with all OSHA, DEP, EPA and DOT regulations including emergency response, contingency plans, security, hazard communication, personal protective equipment, industrial hygiene, respiratory protection, hazardous materials and wastes and TSCA.
  • Provide all required regulatory training through either the computer-based training system or through hands-on classroom sessions and maintain documentation. Champion the computer-based training system for Lexington by developing all training modules, including tests, building databases and scheduling training for all facility personnel.
  • Maintain safe job procedures (SJP's), safety data sheets (SDS's) and the computerized chemical inventory system. Maintain the HES Team Site on Braskem@Work that contains all safety, environmental, hazard communication and emergency response procedures and supporting documents, all process safety, SJP, Braskem+ and SEMPRE documentation.
  • Conduct facility safety meetings on a quarterly basis. Conduct all Process Safety MOC's for new equipment.
  • Responsible for update, and distribution of significant aspect inventory list created by Facility Aspect Identification Team (FAIT) on an annual basis. Review and approve all applications for new chemicals.
  • Audit all HES programs to ensure they are current and in compliance. Participate in corporate audits and remedial actions. Maintain the IMPACT system used to enter and track total event reports (TER's), Audit Reports, Findings and Action Items and lead incident investigation teams when required. Responsible for the SEMPRE safety activity scorecard system and other safety metrics programs for the facility. Conduct Safety Orientations for all new team members.
  • Subject Matter Expert for the purchasing requisition, service entry sheet and goods receipt sections of the SAP purchasing system for the Lexington facility. Generate the budget and maintain and track the spending for the BRIC facility cost center.
  • Together with third party facilities management contractor manage the building and project maintenance team comprised of at least one internal and/or third party contractor. Together with third party facilities management contractor assign tasks on a daily basis ranging from electrical, plumbing, carpentry, welding and general labor tasks.
  • Manage the building materials handling/shipping and receiving team comprised of one contract shipping/receiving clerk.

Preferred Skills, Education, and Experience:

  • B.S. in Engineering, Chemistry or relevant field with an understanding of new technology development
  • Experience in pilot plant operation, and lab processes
