Job description
Accountability: Will perform maintenance on locomotives, railroad cars, equipment, service repairs, and perform FRA inspections throughout the United States.
Responsibilities:
- Locomotive repairs including mechanical, air and electrical.
- Performs preventative maintenance on assigned company locomotives and equipment.
- Includes: adding oil to engine, adding sand and water to engine, lubricating all hinges, replacing all worn dc electric motor brushes within locomotive, changing all filters, adding traction motor grease to motors and removing dirt from electrical cabinets.
- Service crane operation.
- Welding and oxygen/acetylene torching.
- Freight car repair if necessary.
- Maintenance of assigned vehicle.
- General repairs of other equipment if necessary.
- Trouble shoot and repair equipment as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Maintain safe and clean work area.
Specialized or Technical Knowledge, or Education and Experience:
- Experienced in locomotive inspections, repair, and FRA inspections.
- Knowledge of power and hydraulic tools.
- Welding and oxygen/acetylene torching experience.
Physical Requirements:
- Requires constant standing, walking, climbing stairs and ladders, and balancing in a safe manner
- Requires frequent stooping, kneeling, and crouching
- Able to frequently lift and carry equipment weighing up to 30lbs
- Able to push and pull with 100lbs of force, the force required to push/pull hand brakes
