Overview:

Edgewater is currently seeking a Linux System Administrator III to support an IT program for a major national laboratory. The organization provides modern IT Configuration Management (CM) Platforms and Enterprise IT Services for Linux and Infrastructure. They design and operate technologies and processes to ensure IT systems are reliable, consistent, and secure throughout the lifecycle of the system.
Responsibilities:
- Process Software Assurance method free from vulnerabilities on Linux OS machines.
- Deploy and maintain production Linux operating systems in accordance with established IT policies and guidelines for items such as security, networks, and filesystems.
- Coordinate and perform installations and upgrades to layered software packages continually monitor and tune multiple systems to achieve optimum performance levels
- Work is performed onsite and therefore candidate must reside in the Albuquerque area.
- 9/80 work schedule (9 hour work days and off every other Friday) is an option, with remote work at least 1 day a week.
- BS with 2 years of job related experience
- In lieu of degree, 8 years of job related experience is applicable.
- U.S. Citizenship is required per contract to obtain and maintain a U.S Department of Energy clearance, with the ability to obtain and maintain a DOE Q clearance
- Experience in Unix/Linux Server System Administration
Desired:
- Current active DOE “Q” Clearance
- Familiarity or experience with virtualized systems (such as KVM, ESX) and containers
- Working knowledge of authentication methodologies such as Kerberos, PAM, and LDAP
- Working knowledge of TCP/IP, HTTP, SSL, DNS, FTP, SSH, and other common Internet protocols
- Familiarity or experience with automation tools such as Ansible.
- Experience with solving practical problems and system analysis of IT infrastructures
- Experience in effectively prioritizing and executing tasks in a constantly changing environment.
- Knowledge of CLI, scripting (Bash, Python), and searching/parsing log files
- Ability to work effectively in a collaborative and interdisciplinary team environment.
