Position Description:

The lead VDC engineer is the manager of the information that utilizes the building model and supports the VDC manager and multiple district project VDC implementation efforts. The lead VDC engineer works with on-site VDC engineers and BIM engineers to execute the project’s VDC Execution Plan. The lead VDC engineer is overseen by the VDC manager and the project manager.


Position Qualifications:

  • A 4-year degree in civil or structural engineering, architecture, or construction management.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years’ experience on large commercial construction project.
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work independently or within a team.
  • Strong understanding of construction documents.
  • Possess technical knowledge of commercial building design and documentation.
  • Strong organizational skills and graphic communication skills.
  • Computer software - Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Excel-based templates, and Autodesk Suite with the primary focus on 3D authoring tools and Manage Navisworks. A basic understanding of collaboration, 4D, 5D and 6D tools.
  • Familiarity with Corporate and District’s VDC resources & processes, including software, hardware, and best practices.

Essential Duties:

  • Oversight of multiple project VDC requirements.
  • Support procurement efforts through model development, proposal, and interview representation.
  • Support jobsite in office and field related VDC activities.
  • Support District VDC training.
  • Development, implementation & maintenance of project VDC project execution plans and strategies in conjunction with the project & VDC manager.
  • Management and coordination of architectural, MEPTF, structural, civil, specialty and site components of the model.
  • Assist in the identification and resolution of clash detection and design issues.
  • Management of information dissemination and issues resolution in the model.
  • Quality assurance oversight on model reliability, structure, and content.
  • Assist in archiving of models, preconstruction through post construction.
  • Assist VDC manager in project implementation of new software, processes, and technology.
  • Assist in creation of VDC Coordination Schedule and drive implementation.
  • Assist in providing real world project alignment and validation between survey and 3D models and integration with primary control.
  • Support estimating department’s use of provided models for quantity survey, visualization, and other communication needs.

Based on position location, a cost of living adjustment (COLA) may also be included (subject to periodic review and adjustment).
