The Lead Teacher is responsible for providing academic, social-emotional growth and development of all children in their care. They are responsible for developing relationships with parents/caregivers to help provide a seamless learning environment between home and school.


Preferred Education

Degree in Education, Early Childhood, Human Development, Special Education or related field preferred.
Course work in Early Childhood or related field required.

Required Skills
  • Experience preparing and implementing curriculum for children preferred.
  • Experience working with children in a daycare/childcare/preschool setting.
  • Effective communication with children and adults; experience working with children. Complete 20 hours minimum of IdahoSTARS approved and required training within the first 90 days of hire and then yearly after that.
  • City of Moscow Child Care Provider components (Sec 10-7 Business regulations), CPR and First Aide training (within 30 days of hire), 4 (min) hours of education in Early Childhood Education and Development. Annual renewal of license and a minimum of 4 hours training.
  • Attend to children’s basic needs, organize activities that stimulate the children’s physical, emotional, intellectual, and social growth.
  • Assist children to explore their interests, develop skills and independence, build self-esteem, and learn how to get along with others.
  • Create an inclusive environment for children and families.
  • Assist with daily organization and management of classroom.
  • Prepare curriculum activities and communicate plans with classroom assistants and volunteers.
  • Create daily lesson plans based on best practices in ECE.
  • Maintain current records of children’s development and goals.
  • Assist in maintaining attractive, healthy surroundings and ensure that the environment and equipment is in good condition and free of safety hazards.
  • Communicate effectively with parents and staff; assist in service of meals and/or snacks with children.
  • Participate in staff meetings, in service training and professional development opportunities.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned.

Population Served
Infants through age 8.

Physical Demands
Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, drop to one knee and get back up and safely holding a child, with the ability to carry and lift up to 20 lbs. frequently, and up to 50 lbs. occasionally. Light housekeeping as needed; cleaning kitchen area when scheduled including the fridge, floors and tables after meal times.

Environmental Conditions
