Join our team as the Lead Family Support Specialist in the Blessed Beginnings Program! Lead Family Support Specialist is responsible for assisting the Blessed Beginnings Program Director with tasks such as providing educational services and providing services and referrals to individuals and families who are clients of Catholic Charities’ Blessed Beginnings Program. The primary role will be to facilitate educational classes for clients on topics such as, but not limited to, parenting and prenatal care. Associated responsibilities include teaching classes in a culturally sensitive and respectful manner, developing and updating class curriculum, reporting outcome measures, and outreach events. They will serve as a mentor and provide guidance to the Blessed Beginnings’ staff with their classes. Lead Family Support Specialist will also meet with individuals and/or families to provide services such as material assistance and assist in the identification of resources and facilitate assessing resources as needed. All services are provided in a trauma informed service environment.

The Expertise We're Looking For


  • You have an Associate Degree; or two (2) years of nonprofit experience in in lieu of education

  • You have two (2) years of experience in a social service setting or similar setting

  • You are Bilingual in English and Spanish

  • You have knowledge of prenatal care, child development, attachment and bonding, and family dynamics.

  • You have strong verbal and written communication skills.

  • You have public speaking ability, including the ability to provide presentations and classes to large audiences.

  • You have demonstrated knowledge of social work principles and ethics.

  • You have demonstrated success in dealing with a variety of people, clients and volunteers.

  • You have knowledge of issues and problems faced by low-income individuals.

  • You have knowledge of community resources available for low-income individuals.

  • You have knowledge of social services database systems; ability to manage client data via electronic records.

  • You have the ability to work under pressure and manage multiple deadlines concurrently.

  • You have the ability to work well within a team and provide services with an integrated approach.

  • You approach challenges with a solution-focused approach and maintains a positive attitude.

  • You have ability to gather, track, and report large quantities of data; must be well organized and know how to handle and maintain confidential information.

  • You have knowledge of MS Office Suite (Word, Power Point, Excel, Access).

What you Deliver


  • You will works collaboratively with the Program Director to advance the department’s administrative goals, including adherence to quality and compliance standards set by the agency and funders as well as promoting Blessed Beginnings’ initiatives and growth in the community.

  • You will provides day to day support and guidance to Family Support Specialists, Parent Intake Specialist, and interns or volunteers to ensure individual services are completed correctly.

  • You will establishes a trusting and professional relationship with pregnant women and their families or women with newborns, infants, toddlers, and/or young children seeking pregnancy and parenting classes or individual services.

  • You will enrolls eligible clients into the Texas Pregnancy Care Network (TPCN) BriteWorks system and invoices all session stamps that are created in a timely manner.

  • You will provides material assistance, mentoring information, resources and referrals to clients requesting assistance. Includes completing intakes, parent education, and being knowledgeable of internal and external resources and advocate when necessary.

  • You will teaches life skills in English and Spanish to pregnant women and parents of young children. Classes are based on approved curriculum content and materials which may be ready to present or may require additional development, such as updates, translation and/or tailoring for specialized client needs.

  • You will assist with monitoring program client records entered by staff into the agency’s database in a timely and accurate manner to ensure client files are in compliance with agency policies and procedures, agency standards, and all applicable legal requirements, including HIPAA.

  • You will assists in scheduling online prenatal and parenting classes monthly.

  • You will evaluate clients curriculum and identify additional lessons to create.

  • You will oversee and analyzes curriculum, class attendance and partnerships to provide updates to the Program Director.

  • You will assist with analyzing and updating the Program Director regarding staff training in program’s database, agency policies and procedures.

  • You will provide feedback to the Program Director regarding program policies and procedures updates.

  • You will serves as an ambassador for Catholic Charities while engaging in outreach and education within the community. Educates existing partners, potential collaborators, and stakeholders about Blessed Beginnings Life Center, as well as all services available through the organization’s various programs.

  • You will collaborates in the program’s efforts to maintain and distribute goods through the Baby Boutique.

  • You will prepares and submits all required administrative reports and documentation within given deadlines without compromising quality.

  • You will participate and attend required professional development opportunities. Maintains all licenses, certificates, and/or trainings as required by funders, program, and/or agency.

  • You will participates in and is responsive to quality and compliance activities, including the agency’s record review and qualitative review process, as well as incident reporting practices.

  • You will participates in staff retreats, United Way tours, agency fairs and speaking engagements, as well as assist with special organizational projects/events, etc.

  • You will perform other duties as assigned.
