CenterPoint Energy is looking for a Lead Agent, Right-Of-Way to join our Survey and Right of Way Land Use Team, located in Houston, TX.

You will have the ability to: perform a full range of supervisory and administrative duties with employees and monitors performance of contractor workers. Consults and provides advisory direction on a wide-range of property rights topics and issues.

To be successful in this role you will:

  • Provides oversight, mentoring and guidance to organization’s personnel.
  • Directs land title research, utilizing both internal and external resources, to determine ownership and other land rights.
  • Review all documents related to Company land rights for accuracy and completeness.
  • Negotiates both non-monetary and monetary terms and conditions for easements, deeds, access, agreements and licenses between individual landowners, Railroads, and other governmental entities to accommodate the installation and/or maintenance of their facilities on CenterPoint’s fee and or easement properties.
  • Analyzes and determines damages done to property and negotiates damage payments with property owners.
  • Consults with service area directors, service consultants, developers, environmentalists, surveyors, engineers, attorneys, governmental agencies and landowners in order to resolve land and easement related issues.
  • Represents Company as a liaison with municipalities, governmental and regulatory agencies to ensure compliance with granted rights within CenterPoint Energy’s fee and easement properties.
  • Reviews and recommends changes to legal documents utilized in management of company’s real property assets.
  • Identifies marketing opportunities to sell or lease Company owned properties.
  • Initiates and/or participates on cross functional business unit teams.
  • Coordinates with outside staffing sources, where needed.
  • Conducts training and tutorial sessions in areas of expertise.
  • Advocates safety in all aspects and protects the public concerning the dangers involved with activities in the vicinity of gas and electric Company equipment or lines.

Your background includes:

  • Preferred bachelor’s degree in business administration or a technical discipline related to land surveying, civil engineering, right of way, land management or a related field, from an accredited college or university.
  • In lieu of a bachelor’s degree, an associate degree or High School Graduate or GED will consider a combination of education and related experience in real estate, right of way acquisition, easement document preparation, document management, land and title research totaling two - five years of experience.
  • 5 years of relevant work experience required in land-related activities (such as commercial real estate, land rights acquisition and/or land related land management), with an understanding of land transactions, legal documents, metes & bounds descriptions, land titles, abstracts, surveying, and GIS.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $85,000.00 - $115,000.00 per year
