The Labor and Delivery/Postpartum Department at Castle Rock Adventist Hospital has 13 beds and performs 75-90 deliveries per month. Our specialty is Labor Delivery and Postpartum where we care for families as they bring their new addition into their lives. We were awarded the distinction of being one of the top 200 Obstetric hospitals for 2020 in Newsweek.
We have a very cohesive team that considers each other family. Each team member jumps in when
needed to help the unit. We encourage staff members to continue their education and get their
certificates in their area of interest. Candidates need to be motivated and self-starters.

Job Summary:

Responsible for the assessment and management of breastfeeding mothers and babies, particularly, those with problems or concerns. Exercises independent judgment in the assessment, diagnosis, and initiation of nursing processes and procedures concerning lactation patient and her infant. Supports training and support of new associates on breastfeeding techniques and standards of care; serves as a subject matter expert to the units in their facility.
Will need to demonstrate a developing knowledge and skills relevant to lactation and adult learning
principles. Basic knowledge of Adult Learning Principles needed to plan, implement and
present/facilitate education for clients and/or hospital staff. Experience demonstrating the competent assessment, treatment, and care of all ages, including, neonates.
What You Bring/Job Requirements:
In addition to bringing your whole self to the workplace each day, qualified candidates will need the following:
  • RN License required; Current state nursing licenses or Registered Nurse license from a participating state in the National Licensure Compact,
    • Colorado Only: RNs working in Colorado under a multi-state license must obtain their CO RN license within 30 days of establishing residency, i.e., drivers license, register to vote, etc. Compact to Compact. Upon issuance of a new multistate license, the former license is inactivated. For more information visit Colorado Board of Nursing - Compact Licensure
  • Nursing Diploma or Associates Degree in Nursing required; Bachelors Degree in Nursing preferred
  • Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing required for new graduates, preferred for experienced RN's
  • BLS from the American Heart Association required
  • 1-2 years lactation experience
  • 3 years nursing experience required.
  • Prior lactation training and/or certification preferred
  • IBCLC- International Board Certified Lactation Consultant required

Physical Requirements - Medium Work - (Exert up to 50lbs force occasionally, and/or up to 20lbs frequently, and/or up to 10lbs constantly)

Schedule: It would be 2-3 shifts per week. The shifts are 4-6 hours depending on our census that day. It would be days and evenings and some weekends. This is rotated among the 3 Lactation consultants
