Black River Memorial Hospital has an immediate opening for a Laboratory Unit Clerk. This position performs dual duties, serving as Phlebotomist and Laboratory Unit Clerk. Responsible for the collection and processing of specimens, clerical and secretarial tasks, cleaning, and routine maintenance.

  • Full-time, 80 hours per pay period, benefited. Day shift, Monday through Friday.

Essential Duties:

  • Provides accurate and timely collection of blood and body fluid specimens for laboratory tests.
  • Accurately labels and handles the specimens collected until they are received in the laboratory.
  • Assists with ordering, receiving, or arriving of specimens; follows up on specimens as required; relays patient laboratory test information and manages data through appropriate computer programs.
  • Request supplies for the department, answers the phone, and respond to requests.
  • Performs and coordinates clerical activities for the laboratory department to promote patient-focused care.

Education Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
  • Certificate from a vocational or technical college in phlebotomy or other on-the-job trained experience
  • Experience as a Lab Unit Clerk or equivalent education and experience is desirable
  • Proficient skills in the operation of standard office equipment such as multi-line phones, computers, fax machine, copy machine, and printers
  • Advanced knowledge in Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, Microsoft Office, and database
  • BLS certification within 1- year of hire date
