General Description: The Lab Technician is responsible for prioritizing and analyzing all of the samples in their designated laboratory as well as others on their shift. This includes the testing of all raw materials, in process intermediates and final products. They will be responsible for all calibrations or maintenance items due on their shift. They may have reports if their training has progressed to that point. If they are acting shift leaders then they are responsible for all technicians and laboratories on their shift.

• Analytical Chemistry
• Analyze all types of shipping samples for conformance against customer shipping specifications.
• Analyze plant in-process samples
• Analyze basic environmental samples for GC and Chemet testing for ppm phenols, ppm ammonia , able to run TOC instrument
• Analyze all types of alkyl samples
• Reprocess chromatography to include misidentified peaks or retention time adjustments
• Non- standard analyses
• Create some Certificates of Analysis
  

• Routine Instrument Maintenance
• Verify melting point status, pH meter operation, XRF functions, balances, IR operation, autotitration instrument operation
• Titrate and standardize Karl Fischer reagent
• Performance check UV spectrometer
• Simple trouble shooting of chromatography, autotitration, and pH instrumentation
• Perform some non-pharma chromatography calibrations.
• Monitor and replace compressed gas cylinders
• Change septa and liner on GC instrumentation
