Melt Shop Lab Tech
If you are highly motivated; have strong basic math skills; and work well under pressure; this is an outstanding opportunity to begin a career at Steel of West Virginia. This entry level job in our Melt Shop can position you for other managerial opportunities at Steel of West Virginia, Inc.
We are seeking candidates with strong basic math skills, ability to trouble shoot mechanical equipment, operate PC using windows - based system, and work a 56 - hour rotating shift.
The duties of the Lab Tech are to operate a carbon analyzer and two spectrometers to obtain metal chemistries; communicate with caster crews in the Melt Shop; operate tensile machine to accomplish physical testing; and trouble shoot testing equipment.
This job has an earnings opportunity of over $60,000 per year consisting of a starting base salary of $45,000 a year, and over $15,000 in overtime (based on Lab Tech earnings in 2021) and profit sharing of $7,000 per year (average over the last nine years). The job also offers strong benefits, including excellent health care (at $80 per month single premium and $160 per month premium for family coverage); and Company contribution of 6% of your base salary into 401(K) plan.
