Overview:
Under the guidance of LSTI instructors and administrative staff, the Lab Assistant/Proctor position is
responsible for mentoring, coaching, and evaluating student lab performance and providing constructive feedback based on company, national, state, and accreditation guidelines.
Responsibilities:
To perform the job successfully, strong attention to detail is a requisite; an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The following requirements are representative of the knowledge, skill and/or ability required. Duties & Responsibilities:

1. Work closely with LSTI primary instructors to provide accurate, professional evaluations of student psychomotor activities in the lab setting
2. Prepare lab areas with adequate supplies/equipment needed for the evaluation(s)
3. Provide psychomotor instruction, coaching, and educational goal setting in the lab setting
4. Possess thorough knowledge of psychomotor standards set forth by state, national, and accrediting bodies
5. Demonstrate knowledge and proficiency of medical procedures and assessments being evaluated in the lab setting
6. Ensure evaluation sheets are documented appropriately and in a timely manner. Evaluations must be submitted to the primary instructor by the end of day
7. Inform the primary instructor when a student is not performing to standards set forth by the Program
8. Keep classroom and workspace(s) clean and organized. Ensure workspaces have been cleaned daily
9. Provide prompt notice to the Education Manager when medical supply is low, or equipment is non-functioning or worn
10. Read and comprehend, LSTI policy and procedure as identified in the student handbook and report violations of policy to the Education Manager and/or Program Director.
11. Regularly participate in staff meetings, seminars, workshops, staff development training activities, and other activities that improve the educational experience at LSTI.

4. Adheres to FERPA requirements and maintains confidentiality of student information. Maintains confidentiality of all proprietary company information and data
5. Supports, cooperates with, and demonstrates safe work practices and attitudes, follows safety rules- including universal precautions- reports and prevents/corrects unsafe conditions and behaviors.
6. Supports and participates in a collaborative team-oriented environment- cooperates and works together with all co-workers, plans, and completes job duties, uses appropriate communications in sensitive and emotional situations and follows up as appropriate regarding reported complaints, problems, and/or concerns
7. Maintains current licensure, registration and/or certification, as applicable
Qualifications:
A. Education/Training: Requires a minimum of a High School Diploma or GED. Higher-level educational coursework, associate or bachelor's degree is preferred
B. Work Experience: Requires a minimum of one (1) year field experience in the level of initial EMS education being taught. Previous experience in AHA instruction is also preferred.
C. Contacts and Communications: Must be socially sensitive and have well-established interpersonal skills to remain objective and cooperative in interacting with individuals with varied backgrounds, skills, and abilities. Requires the ability to effectively present information to a wide audience. Requires the ability to communicate effectively with faculty, management, and community groups
D. Analytical Demands: Identify patterns in lab performance that may need to be addressed in the classroom setting
E. Computer Skills: Basic keyboarding and demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, etc.) is required. Software knowledge of Platinum Education and FISDAP preferred.
F. Certification, Licensure, Registration: Must possess a current, valid EMS license at the level of licensure being taught in the lab setting. Instructor certification in BLS/ACLS and/or State IC certification is preferred
G. Other Qualifications: Requires the ability to report to work on-time and prepared to provide professional educational activities. Requires the ability to work a flexible schedule including offshift hours, weekends, and other as assigned.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is consistently required to sit; use hands, fingers, handle, feel; and talk, hear & see. The employee is frequently required to sit. The employee is occasionally required to reach with hands and arms. Specific vision abilities required by this job include ability to adjust focus. The employee is occasionally required to work under high pressure. Lifting requirements of a minimum of 35 lbs.

Work Environment:

While performing the duties of the job, the employee is regularly in verbal contact with others and constantly works face-to-face with and around others. Consistently uses office equipment such as computers. copy machine. fax machine. telephone. keyboard, calculator. stapler, etc.
