Junior Camp Counselor
Job description
Responsibilities:
- Aide in teaching communication skills, social skills, self-help skills, and play skills through Applied Behavior Analysis principles
- Quickly and accurately communicate problems/concerns with appropriate staff
- Play games, have fun, and watch the kids progress firsthand
- Help clean up and maintain the camp area
- Assist children with daily activities such as crafts, games, and sports
- Ensure the safety and well-being of the children at all times
- Participate in camp activities and games with the children
- Communicate effectively with the Behavior Therapist and other staff members
- Assist with the implementation of activities and programs
- Supervise campers and ensure their safety, well-being, and adherence to camp rules and behavioral expectations
- Assist campers with daily living activities, including eating, dressing, toileting, and personal hygiene as needed
- Provide support to camp counselors and therapists as needed
- Help prepare and serve meals, clean up dining areas, and maintain a clean and sanitary camp environment
- Participate in recreational and educational activities with campers, such as sports, games, arts and crafts, and nature exploration.
- Attend staff meetings, training sessions, and other professional development opportunities as required.
- Follow all camp policies and procedures, including those related to confidentiality, safety, and emergency protocols.
Requirements:
- Must be at least 16 years of age
- Provide a doctor's release to work as well as proof of receiving the following vaccinations: Covid-19 (two-dose, with booster when applicable), MMR, Hep. B, Varicella, and TDAP
- Negative TB test within the last 2 years
- Must be able to pass a background check
- Preferred: Experience working with children 0-16
