Company Background:

· Grade A Market Inc. is a family-owned business which operates 12 retail stores in the Fairfield/Litchfield county area – Stamford/Norwalk, Fairfield/Shelton/Derby and Danbury/Brookfield/Southbury/Bristol.

· The Corporate Office, located in the Norwalk Store, consists of Senior Management, Supervisors, Accounting and Human Resources.

· This role will report to the Accounting Manager who in turn reports into the CFO.

· The Accounting and Human Resource group is supported by 9 professionals.

Responsibilities:

General Ledger:

· Key person responsible for reconciling and documenting fluctuations in balance sheet and P&L accounts.

· Coordinating with other accountants and Wakefern to obtain their analysis of accounts to ensure that all major balance sheet accounts are properly reconciled.

· Utilizing a standard closing checklist to help the company meet its target 45-day closing on a quarterly basis.

· Responsible for maintaining and updating the chart of accounts and definitions.

· Assist with providing support for the annual audit.

Cash Responsibilities:

· Cash reconciliation of a portion of the company’s store bank accounts.

· Daily oversight of account and reconciliation of cash and credit card/check activity.

· Coordinating with store Bookkeepers to investigate differences and ensure proper procedures are being performed at the store level.

Other Responsibilities:

· Reviewing and ensuring proper accounting for shareholder receivable and liability accounts. Including recording interest on those accounts per company policy.

· Accounting for and remittance of sales taxes on a monthly basis.

· Work with the Accounting Manager to prepare an accounting policy manual leveraging accounting already performed and documented by Wakefern.

· Perform back-up functions for Accounts Payable-Vendor Payments, Accounts Receivable and Store Expense Payments.

Requirements:

· Accounting or related degree or near completion.

· Experience in an accounting or bookkeeping role (1-2 years) or a strong candidate with accounting related internship/college related work program.

· Ability to work 5 days per week in an office setting with some flexibility in hours (i.e., 8-4pm, 9-5pm, etc).

· Experience with advance excel skills and Oracle/SAP a plus.

Pay: $50,000.00 - $60,000.00 per year
