HOWARD PREP JOB COACH JANITORIAL/LANDSCAPE JOB DESCRIPTION

Title: Job Coach Janitorial/Landscape
Reports to: Community Employment Manager
Status: Full Time Non-Exempt (8 hrs/day)

Hours: Weekdays and Weekends, evening shift (Shift starts at 1:30pm).
Job will be performed at Caltrans rest stop on Hwy 5 in Westley.

Howard Prep is actively seeking a Landscape/Janitorial Coach for our Community Employment program for services provided to Caltrans Rest Stops and Ceres/Modesto Landscape team. Howard Prep works with adults with disabilities teaching them job and living skills.

Job Summary:

Job Coach will work and provide required training, supervision/monitoring, and support to assigned participants.

Provide training and support to participants working independently on various sites or in a community-based enclave site. Areas of emphasis are on work skills, behavior modification, time management and social interaction skills training.

Work along with participants in compliance with contracts with clients to ensure that work is done according to specifications. This may include landscaping, janitorial, cleaning, restroom maintenance, trimming and more. Job coach will ensure that participants are supervised and will teach them proper techniques to ensure that equipment is used properly.

Responsible for completing paperwork, case notes, incident reports, manages activity problems and instruct participants on all safety/health procedures.

Protect and safeguard participants and agency assets. Maintain and promote a safe, harassment and discrimination free work environment.

Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision and remain focused on the needs/desires of the participants required. Must be able to follow rules and will supervise and train participants in safety guidelines including Covid-19 guidelines.

Required to drive agency vehicles and transport goods and/or participants to and from work sites.

Perform other duties as assigned by Program Manager.

Qualifications:

· High school diploma or GED. Experience in habitation/rehabilitation working with adults with developmental disabilities preferred.

· Able to work weekends and holidays.

· 2+ years of Landscaping experience (Preferred)

· 1+ year of Janitorial experience (Preferred)

· Essential duties require the ability to stand and/or walk for extended periods of time; sit, stoop, bend, reach, push, and pull; exercise manual dexterity and strength to grab, grasp, hold, and handle items of various sizes; climb steps/stairs, read, write, speak, see, and hear sufficiently to provide required services, and supervision and protection of participants. Able to lift, transfer, and move 50 lbs. of goods or materials.

· Must have reliable transportation, possession of a valid California driver’s license, and minimum vehicle insurance as required by law, or the ability for independent transportation. Must be insurable by the Agency’s auto insurance provider.

· Must be able to pass pre-employment and post-employment physical and alcohol/drug screen in accordance with Drug-Free Workplace Policy. Must obtain and maintain required criminal record and health clearances and valid First Aid and Adult CPR certifications. Must be able to perform essential functions of positions as identified in job description. Able to comply with prompt and reasonable attendance guidelines established by Howard Prep policy.

Able to and willing to acquire skills necessary for performance of job duties.

The Agency retains the right to change or assign different hours, and additional duties to this position.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $16.50 - $17.50 per hour
