POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the general supervision of the building principal, the employee must perform tasks in schools that support the teaching and learning process for students or small group of students with special needs. Assignment will consist of assisting one or more teachers or teaching teams in multiple locations.
Hourly Range: $15.51 - $29.80
CLOSING DATE: March 29, 2023

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each specific duty satisfactorily.
Support inclusive opportunities for students with IEP's in various school settings;
Perform required record keeping tasks such as data collection; maintain records or logs as appropriate;
Perform routine housekeeping tasks and perform monitoring to tasks as appropriate;
Address children's personal care needs as well as learning and behavioral needs under the direction of classroom teacher(s) or program coordinator;
Participate in a wide variety of activities that meet the developmental learning needs of students with disabilities;
Maintain an attractive, safe, appropriate environment as required by the local educational agency;
Communicate effectively with all school personnel (i.e. administrators, classroom teacher, support staff, related services providers, coordinator, parents, students and the community);
Assist with emergency care situations;
Attend staff meetings, parent orientation/conferences; and
Commit to continued learning and professional development and training.
QUALIFICATIONS:
The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.
Must be at least 21 years old;
General knowledge of COMAR and PGCPS philosophy, regulations, standard operating procedures and expectations;
Ability to be flexible in regards to change in assignments within location, or from location to location;
Ability to conduct oneself with professionalism, dignity, respect, acceptance and care in all situations; and
Ability to perform all tasks designated necessary to the implementation of the program (including sitting on the floor and lifting small children and equipment).
EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS:
High school diploma required with a minimum of two (2) years of experience working with students with special needs.
CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:
None required.
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
No direct supervisory responsibilities.
