    EdAdvance, a Regional Educational Service Center in western Connecticut, is seeking an IT Support Specialist. Our mission as the RESC in western Connecticut to is to promote the success of area school districts and their communities. EdAdvance is also a partner in the RESC Alliance and works collaboratively with the other RESC groups to support state-wide initiatives. In addition, EdAdvance operates five specialized school programs for students who are requiring educational placement outside of their district.

    IT Support Specialist
    Reports to: Assistant Director of Technology
    Full Time, 40 hours per week

    Pay Rate: ex: $28.85 – $31.25 / Hour. (60k-65k / year)
    Non-exempt
    Position is open until filled

    Job Description: EdAdvance, a Regional Educational Service Center in western Connecticut, is seeking a friendly, highly skilled individual to join our Technology team. The IT Support Specialist will provide onsite IT support for EdAdvance and it's clients. Daily responsibilities range from helpdesk and basic repairs / maintenance to creation of IT training materials and IT planning / documentation.

    The IT Support Specialist works under the supervision of the Assistant Director of Technology. Standard shift is 7:30am-4:00pm, with an included 30-minute break for lunch. This position requires frequent on-site visits to schools. Regular and consistent in person attendance is considered an essential function of this position.

    Major Responsibilities:
    • Provide technical support, in person, and via phone.
    • Track support calls and client time using helpdesk tickets and billing system.
    • Create and update documentation for all systems (Software, updates, backups, data flows, synchronizations, integrations, security access, etc.)
    • Work on designated customer projects (prepare quotes and recommendations, build and deploy systems)
    • Set up and configure new computers, printers, and other peripherals.
    • Manage hw/sw inventory and maintain records for subscriptions / renewals / agreements.
    • Provide training to end-users on how to use hardware and software applications.

    Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
    • Ability to troubleshoot, identify root cause, and investigate solutions.
    • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Excellent customer service skills - patience, active listening, positive language, resilience, effective communication
    • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
    • Knowledge of cybersecurity principles and best practices.
    • Knowledge of Google Work Suite/ Apps, Chromebooks, OSX, iOS, Windows OS (server and client), Microsoft Admin console, basic networking.
    • Experience in Application Integration, APIs, or programming / scripting languages (Powershell, Python, Java, etc) a plus.
    Qualifications/Requirements:
    • 2 years college or technical school coursework, Bachelor’s degree preferred.
    • Minimum of 2 years’ experience providing technology support or training; working with students and teachers a plus.
    • Flexible to work in a dynamic, fast paced educational environment
    • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability and willingness to work with administration, staff, and students
    • Work well in a team environment
    • Must have a desire to learn and grow
    Physical Requirements:
    • Must be able to lift up to 50 lbs
    • Requires pushing pulling
    • Must be able to perform essential functions with or without accommodations
    Travel: Travel between sites required using personal vehicle
