In order to continually provide our members with the highest level of service, we are seeking an experienced, results oriented and service focused individual to join our team of network technology professionals at our corporate headquarters in Basking Ridge, New Jersey.

The Deskside Support Technician will be a very hands-on, member of the Level 1/2 Deskside Support team and responsible for Affinity’s hardware and software configurations on desktops and laptops including operating systems, third party applications, enterprise LAN/WAN, Internet, and telephone users. The Deskside Support Technician will also assist with the installation and administration of network related hardware and software, manage projects, provide technical support including the maintenance and upgrading of IT equipment, software installations and develop and maintain positive working relationships with the end user community. Additionally, position utilizes the IT ticket tracking system for problem management and resolution.

General Responsibilities:

  • Troubleshooting of incidents and service requests.
  • Overseeing, escalating, and collaborating on incidents and service requests with other teams.
  • Configuring and imaging laptop and tablet computing devices.
  • Ordering, tracking, and maintaining all IT equipment inventories and coordinating warranty services.
  • Evaluating and testing new hardware and software including operating systems.
  • Diagnosing, troubleshooting, and resolving Microsoft Windows and Apple hardware and software problems.
  • Responsible for IT equipment ordering, asset management and upkeep of all CIs.
  • Providing endpoint management for all endpoints in the enterprise as well as the assessment and optimization of end user platforms through regular reviews of user needs.
  • Maintaining all enterprise software by completing updates, security patches and installations.
  • Simplifying the deployment of common applications and requests for service.
  • Reviewing systems in a proactive manner in order to contribute to the further improvement of the IT support processes, improve user experience and cost effectiveness.
  • Assisting with Active Directory administration.
  • Clearly communicating technical concepts to non-technical staff and end users both verbally and written.
  • Responsible for the installation and maintenance of supporting technologies (i.e., printers, AV equipment, etc.) throughout the organization including branch locations in NJ, NY, and CT.
  • Instructing end users on the basic uses of approved hardware/software where applicable.
  • Utilizing the Help Desk ticket tracking system for problem management and resolution.
  • Assisting in identifying needs and developing user-training solutions.
  • Helping users that are working onsite at HQ, branches and working remotely.
  • Providing assistance to users and third-party service providers, as needed.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of related experience required or 2+ years of additional related work experience in place of a bachelor’s degree.
  • Excellent Knowledge of LAN and WAN Systems.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Operating Systems, Office 365 applications.
  • Solid working knowledge of Internet standards and protocols (DNS, TCP/IP, etc.).
  • Understanding of client-side applications (Microsoft Office applications, FTP, Visio, etc.)
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently.
  • Must be able to work onsite at HQ in Basking Ridge.
  • Must be able to travel to branch locations in NJ, NY, and CT, as needed.
  • Must be accessible on a 24-hour basis, if needed.
  • Knowledge and experience with PDQ.
  • Knowledge and experience with Ivanti Patching is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Deployment Toolkit (MDT).
  • Knowledge of ITIL, certification is a plus.
  • Mobile Device Management (MDM) and troubleshooting experience is a plus.
  • Knowledge and experience with Virtual Desktop Infrastructure (VDI) is a plus.
