Job description

We are currently hiring an irrigator at Weber Farms. We are looking for somebody with prior experience in the industry including, irrigation equipment, potato storage equipment and potato handling equipment. The perfect applicant is somebody who enjoys farming and motivated to make an impact in our company. The farm is located southeast of Quincy, and the fields are mostly between Moses Lake and Quincy.

Compensation is depending on experience. Certified electrician preferred.

Responsibilities:

• Maintain electrical equipment on center pivots and company machinery and buildings.
• Diagnose malfunctioning irrigation and potato storage systems
• Test electrical systems related to potato production
• Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards and/or defects.
• Perform physically demanding tasks, such as digging trenches to lay conduit, climbing pivot towers, moving and lifting heavy objects
• Advise management on whether continued operation of equipment could be hazardous.
• Operate heavy machinery on occasion.
• Maintain and repair center pivot irrigation systems.
• Perform business management duties such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and ordering supplies and equipment
• Work from ladders to install, maintain or repair electrical wiring, equipment, and components
• Other tasks related to crop production.

Job Requirements:

• Licensed electrician preferred
• 2+ years prior farm related service
• Basic understanding of most farm equipment
• Basic mechanical knowledge of irrigation equipment and systems.
• Maintain current driver’s license and clean driving record at all times.
• Potentially up to 80 hours a week during the busy farming season.
• Overtime after 48 hours in 2023 and after 40 hours in 2024

• 10 hour shift
• Some holidays during crop production season
• Monday to Friday most weeks
• On call
• Rotate weekends

License/Certification:

• Electrical License (Preferred)
